Mortensen Defends Bush Criticism
The Lord Of The Rings star Viggo Mortensen refuses to apologize for his recent attack on President George W. Bush - maintaining the political leader is a "beast." The outspoken actor hit out at Bush after his controversial handling of Hurricane Katrina, but also disagrees with the President's Iraq policies, gossip site The Scoop reports. He fumes, "I'm not anti-Bush; I'm anti-Bush behavior. In other words, I'm against cheating, greed, cruelty, racism, imperialism, religious fundamentalism, treason, and the seemingly limitless capacity for hypocrisy shown by Bush and his administration. Cindy Sheehan (peace activist whose son was killed in Iraq) and how badly Katrina was bungled are two shots to the heart. I hope the beast does fall down soon."
If an actor wants to be a comedian all they have to do is talk without someone else writing their lines.
Perfect example of someone who thinks that because he has a platform for his opinion, his opinion is meaningful, and informed. On Charlie Rose he compared Bush to the villain in Lord of the Rings--not Saddam or UBL, but Bush.
No wonder these actors need their lines written for them. Oh, right, Viggo's a "poet". That, too, makes him well-informed on world matters, such as the responsibility of the response to Katrina. (Nothing bad to say about Nagin, I noticed.)
At least Gimli is cool!
Did he lisp when he said this?
Tell you what...the next time 'ol Viggo decides to play a hardass SEAL (GI Jane) remind me to laugh and point hysterically at the screen.
THAT's who that was! I knew I liked him! Ever since "Shogun" - okay, I'm dating myself...
Lets see he did well in the LOTR series because it started before we knew his politics and was an amazing movie series but since then what great box office draw has he had???? NONE!
I'm not getting rid of my copy of LOTR.
There's too much good in The Professor's Epic to let it be ruined on account of one "man".
"I bid you STAND, men of the West!"
Geez, I now wish some other actor had that line.
Viggo needs parsing I think.
I'm against cheating, Chicago democrats, Bill Clinton, Wisconsin democrats, Wash. state democrats, greed, you'll be doing films for free in the future then? cruelty, like the murderous rampages of gang leaders? racism, the slandering Michael Steele, Clarence Thomas, and Condi Rice? imperialism, the way the commies do it or the way the Euros do it?, religious fundamentalism, ...by flying planes into buildings? treason, I know, I hate Kerry and Fonda too!!! and the seemingly limitless capacity for hypocrisy... by the Hollywood left? Michael Moore? Jesse Jackson?
"Who would you rather be in a fox hole with: Mike Ferrell & Jude Law or Bruce Willis and John Wayne."
Well, the Duke probably smells pretty bad but I'd still take he and Willis. :-)
Where are the Ghostbusters when you need them? They need to get rid of this Vigo!
"Vigy,Vigy,Vigy-You Have Been A Bad Monkey!"
I need help here with posting an image as a reply!
"Viggo needs parsing I think." (Yup!)
Another hollywood wacko shows us the intelligence of the
liberal selfrighteously blind. None.
Their socialist Utopia has dissappeared and they are angry!
Vigo, it's our country. Love it or leave it.
Do a USO tour in Ramadhi, Euro-gurly man!
Then go earn your cash in Norway where the sun don't shine.
