I got a Nano for Christmas as well. Sound quality is excellent, and the 2GB of FLASH RAM means that it can potentially last for 10 or 20 years.
Ick! That will keep me out of the garden!
"What I don't get abou them is this - why would anyone want to watch TV on that tiny little screen?'
I suppose you could download old TV shows (old meaning last weeks or even classics from years gone by) and watch them on a plane ride or if you are going to be somewhere you can burn some clock. The video podcast stuff is very new and more selction will become available in a big way in 2006. The quality is really good. I was skeptical at first too.
""I suppose this means my portable cassette player is now obsolete.""
And my reel to reel!
The more I look at it...the cuter it gets. Good thing I'm a girl. LOL
Cool.
Though if I were getting one myself, I would choose a less expensive model that will do the same thing. Apple overprices its products bigtime.
Thank you for the info.
Yer gonna hafta wait until 1/9/06.
I have a Dell Axim. I like it because it is a PDA, but I can also play mp3s and watch videos on it. I don't have the need for a tiny mp3 player.
Yah, but you should see what 4 14" speakers with 2000 watts will do to the (once) local earthworms! ZZ Top is acceptable.
YCTML.
What kind of warranty does it come with from Apple? The guys at Best Buy implied that if you don't get their warranty plan, which is supposed to cover EVERYTHING for three years, you're taking your chances. I'm always suspicious about warranty plans because I figure it's just a way for them to make extra profit. They wouldn't be pushing it if they really expected folks to use it; OTOH, a satisfied customer comes back.
We got our son a Creative Zen Micro 5 gb for Christmas, and it's pretty awesome. We got black, not hot pink...
"What is the appeal of watching video on a tiny screen?
Just wondering. My students love Nanos and PSPs."
I'll give the answer I gave another poster. Apple started selling downloads of old TV shows like Dragnet for example along with reruns of current shows like Lost. That will expand big time in the coming months . I'll do it for something where I have some time to kill like a long plane ride which is long anytime you leave Texas from this part of the state.
Check the Apple site and you can see what they have.
Hahahahahaha...
I have been able to do anything that iPod can for years with my Pocket PC...plus make phone calls (nearly anywhere in the world), surf the web, up/download files, music, movies, send and rec email, etc.,etc.,etc. The ONLY edge iPod has is the built in HD/storage. BUT, I can use sd (actually I use Mini SD), bluetooth, WiFi, infrared, ethernet, usb, to transfer between any pc. In fact, I can record right from my auto/home/portable stereo and/or tv, too!

I'm just funnin' with ya', though, enjoy your toy and Merry Christmas.
:O)
P
I really wanted silver. ;)
You've seized upon the key concept - buy the tool that best suits your needs. You don't need a small, flash-based player. A nano would be an extravagence for you then. I decided that I wanted to run a marathon, so a nano was an expense along the way.
Good luck on the marathon. I really need to go some exercise myself.
