A quote that has been put forward as the mantra of totalitarian regimes.

From T.H. White's, The Once and Future King.

"Comedy Central seemingly decided that continuing to air this episode would negatively effect its bottom line"

Of course, a banned TV episode makes the DVD set all that more valuable and appealing.
I personally really like Southpark. Usually, the underlying message is one making fun of libs. Of course, they sting everyone else from time to time as well.
I have, however, witnessed a few episodes that were too tasteless to enjoy.

A lot of these guys, it's like professional wrestling. They don't really add anything to the political debate except noise, but tend to tap some substrata of anger among their listeners.

Mikey "the" Weiner "Savage"

Hero to the masses second only to Howard Stern.

If it weren't for talk radio, and especially Rush, the conservative movement wouldn't be anywhere near where it is today. I'm more a fan of Dr Dobson, but I certainly give the others credit, especially Rush. I'm astounded at the criticism, but maybe I shouldn't be, considering the tone of this thread and others like it.

As Rowan Atkison eloquently pointed out to the Parliament when an anti-religious humor law was being proposed recently in the UK (more muzzie appeasement which thankfully failed), most humor that is funny involves goring someone else's ox, said ox being religion more often than not.

If you don't like free speech, well - don't let the door hit you on the way out - America doesn't need any more leftist slugs...

Why is it that the fake fraud phonies on FR inevitably wind up being exposed as very recent members? That's usually the tell-tale sign of a DU troll just stirring up trouble.

There ought to be a disclaimer next to anyone who's been here for less than a year (like, maybe - you belch3) to the effect that *don't take anything I post seriously as I am still in the bottle stage of development*

or something like that....

I don't have any objection to South Park at all, except this: it just isn't funny. It's puerile. I don't get it.

If its intent is to get laughs by being purely offensive and objectionable, it might appeal to some. But it's mostly toilet humor, the sort of thing that went the way of the Whoopie Cushion. This is Howard Stern stuff, with a different twist.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, that is mine. Your results may vary.

Free speech goes both ways. We are also free to criticize South Park, but we tend to get flamed for it here.

Rush picked up a lot of his stuff from Alan Berg.

The trouble with talk radio and television talk shows is that they have lowered the level of political debate down to the lowest common denominators. Most don't even offer debate, but rather, pandering diatribes.

Unless of course you remember a fella by the name of Ronald Reagan, without whom Rush et al wouldn't be where they are today...I've been a conservative since July 1981. How about you?

I've been here a just a few days short of a year. So sue me. Better yet, check my posting history and see if you see anything remotely approaching a liberal post. But go ahead with the personal attacks. I've come to expect it on these threads.

I voted for RWR in the first presidential election I ever voted in, 1980.

Calling people who watch South Park "Conservative in Name Only" goes beyond criticism and into mindless ad hominem.

You've now gotten some of your own medicine so I hope the lesson has sunk in.

I don't agree with balch3, but he is well mannered and deserves to be heard. The validity of his ideas should have nothing to do with how long he's been on the site.

"I voted for RWR in the first presidential election I ever voted in, 1980."

As M.C. Hammer would have said during his salad days: "PROPER!"

You guys should invest in one of those TV's with a channel selector so you are not forced to watch the Comedy Channel when you don't like what they offer. That way, you might not be tempted to try to limit what other adults watch.

I still don't agree with you.
