Finally made it back to the UT after three busy days. The speaking engagement in Anchorage went well.
Maybe too well, because it looks like I am now going to become a bit of an adjunct to our sales & marketing group (they're the ones into S&M) for the next few years -- the downside of my bit of self-promotion in my industry, But at least it looks like I will retain my residency in, and hopefully right to return to, R&D.
I was a bit amused this morning: A decade ago I issued two or three internal company memos signed with an invented moniker based on the technology I'm working with, sort of like "Wireless Will" if I'd been working in wireless communications. It got out, though. Yesterday I gave a copy of my powerpoint on a USB drive to the fellow in charge of the presentation laptop, whom I had just met; when I looked at the USB drive this morning I saw the filename had been changed from "0602-Anchorage-[title]-[surname].ppt" to "03 [invented moniker].ppt" (I was the 3rd speaker).
Already the skids are being greased for another speaking opportunity a month from now.
How are you doing?? Feeling better?
ROFLOL.
Ahem....
That would be sales and marketing?
