It is a shortened version of the 1896 Swede Mauser, with a turned down bolt handle. The design was issued in 1938, mine was made in 1942, the year I was born.
Bayonet and scabbard, bayonet belt hanger, leather rifle sling and keepers, dual leather ammo pouches, field cleaning kit, the crown jewel of bolt action rifles, this is a model 98K Mauser model 48. Brand new condition, in box with all documentation. Plus Shipping, must be to FFL Dealer.
The Seller is required to give the Buyer a minimum of three days to inspect any firearm sold through Auction Arms. See the Auction Arms Terms and Conditions for details.

sweeet...
if it was a Mitchell, i take it that was a Collectors Grade... Mitchell's has three grades: Collector=$300, Premium=$500 and Museum Grade=$1000. you got a great deal.
1941 Mauser P08 all numbers match. Didn't cost me a dime.
Oh man, that is really sweet. I'm salivating.
Sounds like something you'd like...
Sorry. My buddy never lost a penny on any gun he ever sold. He said he was selling for what he paid for it and no, he didn't need the money. He just wanted another toy to play with.
Best thing about it is that there are absolutely no ATF records of this handgun. It is a genuine battlefield relic/souvenir brought back to the US in 1945.
Having said that, nice looking rifle.
How about an 1893 Turkish Mauser. Made in Germany. Re-heat-treated in 1930s. Only $169.
Oh, and the best part: IT'S NOT A "FIREARM", it's an antique under federal law, so there are no rules and regs regarding it's possession and transfer. YOu might not care now, but when the Clinton admin requires registration or confiscation of all rifles, you can keep this quiet, or even continue to shoot with it with impunity. Rebarrel to 308 for practicality.

What FREEper rifle competition? Then we should also have a FREEper hand gun competition!
One of the Freepers hosted a postal match some years ago. I think Charles Martel won the rifle competition. I won the handgun competition.
You can still get 03's from the CMP.
