SuperBowls are often pretty lackluster games. The first ten were not very good contests. I thought XL as a game was pretty good, insofar as not being a blowout, with two pretty evenly matched teams.

I do hope that the NFL does do something to improve the officiating. Porter was right to complain after the playoffs. He would be right to complain now, but I'm not holding my breath. :-)

In the last ten years only four games were non-competative:

Packers vs Patriots Packers won 35-21
Broncos vs Falcons Broncos won 34-19
Ravens vs Giants Ravens won 34-7
Bucs vs Raiders Bucs won 48-21

The other six have been exciting and entertaining games. This was the first I have seen (watched every Super Bowl from IX to present) where officiating had a significant impact. XL stunk next to the last six good games. The other four were blowouts because the champions were dominating teams throughout the season.
