I think it might have gone better for Swannee if Scranton had stayed in for a little while longer. For one thing, it would have given him some experience in campaigning before going up against a very tough campaigner. For another thing, it would have kept his name, his voice, and his views in front of the voters for a longer time.

Heard that at the Steeler victory party, the crowd started chanting, "Governor! Governor!" when Swan was introduced...pretty embarrassing to Gov. Rendell who was also on the stage!
