This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Thanks for pinging me even when I don't show up for so long!
Went to ride with cousin in the Ozarks and have some pictures to post. Will also be on the KD live thread.
We have rain in the Hill Country! Yippee! The 8-month drought is over. I hope. Pics to come. I am slow at posting pics.
We put sunscreen on noses here. Have to.
Those are awesome pics. What pretty country. I really like the creek one.
I looked at the line up and I like Lawyer Ron and Storm Treasure. 'Course I'd starve to death if my career was a gambler :)
Beautiful pictures.
I go for the long shots. If I was betting big money..... A 4 dollar return on a 3 dollar bet not to exciting though.
Sonny tells me that he believes he is going to have a son born today or tonight :) Fancy looks very close to foaling.
I would talk to Fancy. Guys aren't the best at predicting these things:')
Beautiful pictures of your ride! The creek picture is a great shot :~D
We're back from our trail ride, in time for the race. Had a great first ride, more report later :~D
Say cheese :~D
Coming down into the creek :~D
We almost had a mishap at the creek. Some women who were tacking up behind us caught up to us at the creek, or rather... their dog did. The dog came up behind suddenly and Cyn jumped, ecurbh's saddle slid over sideways, but he stayed up and out of the creek :~D Man, he's got a good seat. So thankful for that. He stopped and tightened up his cinch and was good to go.
Little bridge over a culvert.
Goofy husband :~D
Skunk cabbage :~D
White rock.... still scary after all these years :~D
Husband, riding while looking at the GPS unit :~D
Cyn taking advantage of distracted husband by grabbing a snack :~D
Back at the trailer.... Husband walking a little bow-legged :~D
Lots of other trailers there today (ours is the blue truck there) but we didn't run into anyone else after the creek :~D
We had a great first ride... Not real long (ecurbh'll be posting the details via our GPS unit :~D) and I'm glad it wasn't longer... It was all hills, both up and down, and the horses were tired at the end... Bay started stumbling a little over roots and things toward the end. But for the most part he seemed real strong, and Cyn was too, of course.
A few trip stats courtesy of our GPS unit...
3.57 miles

Stopped time: 36:33

Good job, Cowboy:')
I'm glad that you had such a good ride! I'm so happy that you got that trailer. :-)
