The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

You can't tease me like that! If you've got pics of a storm I want to see them!

I've got to run now, to the feed store, but I intend to hound you when I get back :~D

Still waiting for pictures!

I just posted this in the hobbit hole, but reposting it 'cuz I think you'd be amused...

So, Gidget starts barking today, and I look out, and there's a car pulled up to the gate, and a woman, the driver, has gotten out of the car and is taking pictures of the horses. There was someone else in the car I couldn't see well.

I walked out, and said "can I ~help~ you?" She said "I volunteer at 'such-and-such' nursing home, and every week, I come and take this lady for a drive. She noticed your horses were so pretty and wanted to take a look at them. Since she has Alzheimer's and will forget by tomorrow where we went today, I take pictures and print them out for her so she'll remember."

Very sweet, really!

I offered that I'd bring a horse up if she wanted to see closer, but she said she really didn't walk very well and could they just sit there in the car and watch them awhile... I said sure :~D

Wow, that's a heartwarming story. And very nice of you to offer to bring a horse up closer.

It was heartwarming... and a little shameful, really, how suspicious we (I) get of people... I couldn't figure out why she'd be at my gate taking pictures of my horses.

I would have been happy to bring Bay up so she could pet his nose... Maybe she'll come back.

I hate when I get all soft and teary eyed. What a sweet thing for the volunteer to do. I hope your "kids" put on a show and did you proud.

I didn't know you when we went thru a tropical storm here. My husband had to stay at his job and I watched the house. Eddie had the house completely boarded up. I couldn't see anything and felt trapped so ....I opened a door and watched. Then I went out on the patio and watched...Then...I was like that Fox reporter. I was watching my fence get beat down and "whoaing" Of course I had to report everything on another thread. A poster mentioned , that yeah it would have been exciting when I got hit up side the head with a 2x4. Well hubby just happened to drop in and had a fit. I still get preached too. Kind of funny.
Anyway, I'm disappointed. I though they would be good. I took pics of awesome wind and rain but they are almost black. How do you get good night shots?
I'll post some pics in a little bit.

Some of them might be able to be lightened to show something, but if they were at night, I bet they didn't capture it as good as it really was!

Hey - I'd be out there too... with the camera.

I got your package today. Thanks. Eddie was wanting to know what it was. So nosy. I told him drugs. He didn't believe me so I told him money. It was kind of like hair's trash can. He was disappointed when he found out it was just books.
Something really weird happened today. About 5 years ago I had a wreck. I was coming out of a parking lot and went around cars always illegally parked on the side. I turned in to one, that came out of nowhere. A few minutes later a wrecker pulled up and walked over and started yelling that he saw the whole thing. My insurance thought it was a scam but paid anyway.
Today I took my son home and was coming up to the street entrance and a car was parked on the side of the parking lot. I pulled up and looked and started to turn and noticed the car behind and beside me was creeping forward. I stopped. He did too. I started to go forward again and he started moving forward into a space not big enough for the two of us. This happened 3 times. I just stopped and waited. Nothing. He was about 3 feet behind and beside me. So I rolled my window down and made a gesture to go own. He didn't so we both just set there a minute then he went forward. I started to pull forward too after he passed me but something seemed wrong and for some reason I stopped again. Good thing because he turned left in front of me then back to the right really fast and went on.

I couldn't find my horse. Her mane is brown. She has no white socks anymore.

I'm glad it wasn't a repeat of the last accident. Eddie is better than I would have been on packages. Curiosity would have forced me to open it. Did she like the shirt?

He'll give it to her tomorrow. I liked it though:') Maybe it will perk her up. They are kind of down. Their parking lot flooded and they got water in the car. They had left some expensive radio toy in the floor board, under the seat.

It's not as flat here as Brownsville but we get alot of standing water after a heavy rain, too. Usually dries up pretty fast, though. What kind of tree is that in the first pic, with the tire swings? It's beautiful.

I think it's an oak. Yeah, buddy. We should be dried up in a couple of days. They are going to need a bath with the works. I was gonna put them in the barn but it's worse inside. I'll probably loose a couple of shoes in this mess.
