The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'm not familiar with that one, I'll have to check it out.

Frog, are you the one who suggested "Calm Coat" for itchy horses? Stuff sure works, Tuffy was having a bad butt itch, he was even putting his rear end towards me so I would scratch it. I put some of that stuff on it and kind of massaged it in and he was happy as a clam. His allergies have been kicking up lately and I can't give him steroids anymore.

"Boy I tell ya... we've had every kind of weather today, never for more than 15 minutes at a time. One minute, sun, then a downpour, then dark grey and still, then wind. Very unsettled day."

Did you move to Nevada and not tell me?

I think it was too cool in the grey periods to really be Nevada :~D

I've given up on the weather here. This is the first year since I've been here where nothing is predictable.

Well, that's good, in the desert... predictable just sounds ~hot~ to me :~D

Prayers for tuffy. Hope to hear good news.

We had an inch and a half of rain last night. Unbelieveable. The world looks different.

Has he been going good? Not sure if you've been riding him or not yet. Been awhile since we heard an update.

Good morning.

Rained here thru the night, but I think we're done for the day. Mack didn't have to go do a job, too wet, so I'm not sure what the day holds. We've both just been laying around dozing on and off....

How's Tuffy doing? The video of him trotting into the barn, is that recent? Hope all is well!

He feels better than he has in years and yes, I've been riding him. It's like a miracle. When my kids are back in school I'd like to take some dressage lessons on him. It'll do us both good.

Ah - well maybe you can do that other thing, if you still want :~D

We're not sure what our day holds either.

AHA! Purchased? Done? Finalized?

Look at the bright side... at those times, there won't be traffic or lines anywhere :~)

I saw when I was browsing around a while ago that most of the flights took you through Dallas... sortof flying south to head north, but sometimes there's no way around it.

Yeah, Purcheased, done.

I hope those times are alright with you?

I could have made a connection in Denver, but Charlie has been to the Dallas Airport and said it was easy, (like any of it is going to be easy, since I've never done anything like this), that just made it a little better:)
