Heh, my "general" machine, which I post to FR is only an Athlon 2700. But the original point is accurate. At some point, you can only cool with water or a compressor. Pretty much all the CPUs available on the general market can be cooled pretty good with a Zalman 120mm copper brick. If you overclock big, you can go nutz using compressor cooling. That said, I have watched exactly the same CPUs water/air(zalman 7700 in a good Antec Case) and the 7700 is within half a degree.
No question, if you get a good water cooler you can overclock the shiznit out of a cpu. You can go insano with compressor cooling.
