PINEROLO, Italy - One of the hottest tickets at the Sydney Summer Games in 2000 was track and field. Surprisingly, it wasn't because of the great sprinters or hurdlers that were performing, either.
A phenomenon occurred in the Land Down Under. It was dubbed "Babes Over Bars" by the local press. Well, maybe by the slightly less dignified media outlets. And it became the greatest show on earth.
As it turned out, an extraordinary collection of attractive women were competing in the pole vault. Several of them even posed for calendars and picture books. Suffice it to say, the women's pole vault never was more popular.

Bronze is nice. And so are the team members. Gold next time, girls.
My dad was a curler, so I understand the sport. It's a good game. I wonder when tehy're going to do mixed curling, as many of the curling clubs do. (But then, that would either be half as many women curlers or two extra ones.)
I've got to believe that this sport will become more popular due to these gals getting a medal. Looks fun.
They look like a bunch that could throw back a few beers, too. A definite plus in my book.
A couple are decent but a couple look like they should be teachers banging 15 year olds..bow wow
I actually watched quite a bit of it. I found it surprisingly interesting. I understand some basics, but I think it is much more complicated and requires a lot more skill than many people realize.
What is the point of that "game". It seems so stupid to me and every person that I talk to.
They don't look old enough to drink!
We have enough of those already!
A must-have quality, in mine as well.
Happy Monday!
Come on out to play kids!
Probably not so much in the south.
The girls look nice, but they stink at curling and didn't win anything. The MENS curling team won Bronze.
It's like playing shuffleboard, without the pitchers of beer.
Legally, anyway.
It was the men's team that won? Oh well, these are better to look at.
