Its a good example of the difference between the tastes of the cultural elite represented by the Academy voters and mainstream America. They don't see eye to eye on the movies. The entire culture for lack of a better expression, has gone to pot. I don't see Hollywood making movies that lead people to say, "yeah here's something that changes or uplifts our view of the human condition." Movies have gotten bland to the point where they are safe. There's nothing of shock value in gay love. Its old ground.

Well, O.K., I understand your emotions here, but then there was "Cinderella Man", starring Russel Crowe and although neither he (Russel Crowe) nor Ron Howard (Director) won any Oscars, I thought it was one of the best movies of the year.
