A Bryan woman's boyfriend is accused of sexually assaulting her 13 month old baby daughter. According to police reports the woman left her baby and 2 other small children in the care of 23 year-old Jerry Rangel, who is a registered sex offender.
Detectives say Rangel just moved to Bryan from Arlington and had until this Friday to register as a sex offender in Brazos County. He was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
The baby is listed in critical condition at Scott and White in Temple with several fractures and bruises. The baby's grandmother told police she came home and found Rangel asleep in the same room as the injured baby.
Rangel told authorities he doesn't know what happened to the little girl, but admitted he'd been drinking and doing drugs hours before the alleged incident.
"At this point the witness have been cooperative with the police efforts ti investigate this crime," said Jillian Garza with the Bryan police department.
Rangel previously served 8 years at Texas Youth commission for aggravated sexually assault of an 11 year old girl.
He's in the Brazos County jail with bond set at $750,000 for each charge. Police continue to investigate.

This is another "mother's boyfriend" story.
I just heard this on our local news. I thought the reporter made a mistake on the age. Sick, sick freak.
Mandatory execution for child molesters. It would cost the state nothing since there'd be plenty of volunteers. It would be an act of piety to rid the world of fiends like him.
I don't care what kind of rough life he had.
What the sam hell was wrong with the baby's mother? she left her children with him????
