Michael Schumacher equalled the late Ayrton Senna’s record for pole positions when he took his 65th here in Bahrain this afternoon during Formula One racing’s first knockout qualifying session. Fellow Ferrari racer Felipe Massa will start alongside him, with Honda’s Jenson Button and Renault world champion Fernando Alonso on row two.

It's show time! The F1 season kicks off with the Bahrain GP this weekend, the first race for the new V8 rules package. This season should have many interesting twists and turns, as teams wrestle with new cars, a new engine formula, the return of tire changes during the race, and the new "knock out" qualifying format.
Bahrain will be American Scott Speed's debut as a team driver, and Red Bull gave him something to remember, throwing a huge "Arabian Nights" party Thursday night to unveil the team livery for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso

F1 is not wildly popular on FR.
I think there are going to be alot of engine failures with the new V8s.

That should change with an American driver. This should be a fun year.
I usually attend the Montreal Grand Prix (mid June) and the Indianapolis Grand Prix (July).

I hope you added me to the ping list!
I'm trying to decide if I should wake up in the middle of the night, tape it or just watch one of the replies on SpeedTV tomorrow.
We used to tape it and watch in the AM - but I would hear the VCR go off and wake up and watch part of it.
