Quick Impressions for tonight ...

Simon gives himself a 9 1/2 out of 10.

Me to him --- More like a 4/10. You're becoming completely and utterly™ irrelevant, mate.

Elliott Poor song choice. On Broadway shows nothing. It has been overperformed before, does nothing to show your range.

Overall, felt sub-Elliott standard. Not bad, but just meh. But I'll be dialing for him nonetheless because he MUST be in this competition.

Paris "Kiss" was probably a bad song choice. Better with Mary J. Overall, in danger of going home.

Her fan base has peaked and tonight does nothing to add to it.

Chris Man...did the back-to-back recap ever tell his AI5 story: 26 years apart, and both songs were ... absolutely ... indistinguishable. I mean, that's gotta count for somethin'.

Kat Oh the contrast. AAO -- Quite possibly the first time in recorded history a singer missed EVERY single note. I mean, if you're going to bomb, why not stand at ground zero and go nuclear? Then, the Cherry Tree. Oh, Kat, stay with your cherry tree. That was hawt, that was playful, that was just fun. So to summarize: ballads BAD. They're BAD. Not gonna do it. Nah ga da it. Playful is good. It's good. GOOD.

Taylor Tonight...the line in the sand. From here on out, if he goes out, he goes out as Taylor Hicks Original Formula™. Not only fearless with PTFM, but, goddamnit, Fun. Capital F. He KNOWS Simon is going to thrash him so why not take Simon to DEFCON-5 and leave him utterly flippin speechless. I can't even quantify the love for this guy, as a contestant, as a performer, as a person. And then, "Something". His delivers with nuance, with a touch of soul. And the stone serious look. In the mood. I've never seen anything like it. Unbelievable. When T. Hicks leaves the building, my TV goes dark.

What is this, Scott Savol tribute night ? They sang two songs that Scott did last season ( and he did both quite well too I might add ).

LOL - I think you nailed what has bothered me about him on AI. He is VERY good at what he does, yes, but it is all the same.

I'll be back with my recap, yours was good!

Well said. I hope she goes, so Elliot will at least have another chance. I have a bad feeling about him, though.

I thought Taylor was fabulous tonight! And when I got through to vote for him it was his voice saying thanks for voting for me!

He has such a cool look on his face. It is like he is looking right at you personally. I hope he continues to receive strong votes. I believe Taylor will be very successful with or without A.I. now that he has been discovered. Taylor makes the judges look silly and childish in my opinion.

And then, "Something". His delivers with nuance, with a touch of soul. And the stone serious look. In the mood. I've never seen anything like it. Unbelievable. When T. Hicks leaves the building, my TV goes dark.

And there's the difference between Taylor and Katherine. Taylor communicates the song with every bit of his being (except when he's forced to do a cr*ppy song at the last minute) -- the listener/viewer understands the song through his performance.

Contrast that with Katherine. That 2nd song? What the hell was that all about? During the first part of each sung line, she looked ready to murder someone, but at the end of the line, she would throw back her head and smile that beauty pageant smile. What!!??? I don't get it! I still don't have a clue about the meaning of that song. Totally weird and, really, it p*ssed me off.

You know what else p*sses me off? Simon and the whole "wedding singer" thing. Like being a wedding singer is the ultimate insult. If I went to a wedding and had a guy like Taylor or Elliot singing, I would be floored. And happy. And isn't that what entertainment is all about? Making people happy? Who deserves our respect more -- the wedding singer who gives his or her all to make a couple and their guests remember a moment for the rest of their lives, or an Ashley Simpson or any of about a hundred manufactured "singers" out there who all look the same and sound the same and don't make you feel anything but regretful that you wasted 3 minutes listening to their latest *HIT SINGLE*!!?

Agree with all of this. PTFMWB best vocal? No way on earth. Best performance of the year? Yep. Then he dialed it down with a very soulful version of Something. Simon couldn't help but make that rather good comment. Taylor can sing. And sing quite well (just listen to the mp3's of his studio stuf). But he was also born to entertain. MTFMWB was pure entertainment. You can;t help but smile when you see that type of performance. Loved it.
