So it almost went to plan. Bucky and Kevin were as expected the two main candidates to be booted off American Idol, but it wasnt the readaBet.com selection who received the lowest number of votes that honour went to Kevin Covais.
I thought the 16-year-old New Yorker was particularly unlucky as 50s week was one of his stronger performances, while Bucky Covington did little to impress. Not suprisingly it is Bucky viewed as the clear odds on favourite to be the next singer out.
The 4/5 on offer from bet365 is hardly worth bothering with though, as previous seasons of American Idol have thrown up some serious surprises often at this stage of the competition. That said if Bucky isnt the one to go this week, it could well be the turn of Lisa Tucker available at 9/4 to be thrown out the competition.
Turning our attention to the winners market and Chris Daughtry continues to dominate the betting. Paddy Power currently offer the best odds of 15/8 with Katherine Mcphee not far behind at 11/4. The original readaBet selection to win the competition, Taylor Hicks remains very much in contention at 5/1.
Mandisa Hundley is the only other contestant given a single digit quote, while Kelly Pickler, Paris Bennett, Ace Young and Elliot Yamin are around the 12/1 mark. Lisa and Bucky are the outsiders for the competition due to the reasons above.

I don't see how it could be anyone else at this point. Katherine and Chris are both enormously talented and consistent performers.
However, I think Chris needs to avoid the "one trick pony" tag and demonstrate some versatility. Likewise, Katherine needs to avoid becoming too cabaret and could use a shot of something contemporary.
Both are extremely likable and have strong fan bases. They should end up 1 and 2, with the most consistent yet versatile among them becoming the fifth American Idol and the other having an equally rewarding show business career awaiting them.
