Time to get that looked at! My uncle (only 7 years older than me.....and that keeps you well under retirement age!) had a bad hip and a serious weight problem. He had to lose a good amount of weight (around 25 pounds) to allow the surgery, then had the hip replaced. Since then, he's back to walking and has dropped another 45 pounds. Drastic to have surgery, yeah, but....
I did.My problem (a "labral tear") is one that very few Orthopedic Surgeons deal with.There are only three in Boston (the medical capital of the world) and only a handful in NYC (I was on waiting lists in both cities).
I had to wait almost four months for my first appointment,then a month for an MRI and then a couple of months for the surgery itself.
So,I'm still healing from the surgery and hope I can get back to my walking routine soon (which my surgeon says is the likely outcome).
