Mozilla.org's open-source Firefox browser has grabbed 10 percent of the Web browser market. Data released yesterday by Web audience-measurement firm NetApplications.com show that just over 10 percent of users use the Firefox browser, up almost 2.5 percent from from February. Microsoft's Internet Explorer led all browsers with 84.7 percent of users in March, while Apple's Safari browser was third with 3.2 percent. Computerworld reports that "in the past year, Firefox has gained 3.3 percent share while introducing Version 1.5 of the browser with improved features. Internet Explorer has lost 3.9 percent as users wait for Internet Explorer 7, which boasts improved features and security and is due out this fall." The report says that Netscape was the fourth most-popular Web browser, with 1.05 percent of the market, followed by Opera with 0.54 percent and Mozilla with 0.34 percent.

I keep on having problems with it and turn back to Explorer where I have less problems.

The memory leak that everyone insists is not a leak?

It helps if Firefox is restarted once a day.

I downloaded Firefox. I'm not crazy about it because it loses the formatting on too many web pages. I also don't like its appearance and "feel."

I use them in tandem:  they each have strengths the other doesn't.

I guess it's only a matter of time before they target the worms and other e-beasties at us now.

It renders ajax and complicated tables (tvguide) noticeably more slowly.

I have several browsers, and I keep them all current, but Firefox is the one I use on a regular basis.

Same here. I love tabbed browsing, but IE just works better.

I use both. Firefox does loose your bookmarks, if you don't save them. It also doesn't shut down the session....

I have only one session window open. Those are ones that I closed. Can't understand it.

I still don't know why Avant Browser hasn't caught on. It's by far the best I've ever used. It may have some of the security issues IE has, but it is far better designed than Firefox, and much more useful than IE. I think its still more heavily downloaded than Firefox on download.com, yet in the media all you ever here about is firefox as an alternative to IE.

And you know how I love media darlings. (sarcasm)

IE won't let me "submit forms" so I gotta have firefox for that.

& I've checked the web several times & there's no workaround for the IE problem.

Also, tried the Beta on IE 7.0 worked for a couple of hours, then died.

Firefox does loose your bookmarks

In firefox >tools >privacy >cache >settings button (lower rt)

You can select which info to save or not.

Reimport of of IE preferences is easy also:File >import ...&specify

Yeah, but I don't buy that, really. Web developers are more likely to have adopted FF than the public at large, if for no other reason than for compatibility testing, and that's the target audience for W3. I just checked the March logs for one of my (very non-technical) sites, and FF is right around 10% - FF/Mozilla-compatible combined is around 14%.

I still don't know why Avant Browser hasn't caught on.

Could be that it's because Avant is a front end overlay to IE which still gives you all the security flaws inherent in IE.

Firefox is totally separate from IE and does not rely on anything IE.
