There were probably no security guards on site.

The article says the security guards were the ones who called 911 to get the cops to come.

However, we're probably getting beyond ourselves; the news report is short on facts; the media often screws these things up; and we're just speculating.

What are you talking about!

Then it's the COPS fault. Or the evil "man" who made the laws that makes them illegal and does not want to give them amnesty.

--

My brother has a green card. He is becoming a US citizen soon. Boy was he an idiot for doing it the legal way! Do people realize that they are ENCOURAGING future law breakers be REWARDING amnesty to those who broke the law and are illegally here?

What our government is doing is pandering to 41,000,000 Hispanic voters. In some cases we even allow illegals to vote! Believe it or not.

As to the supposed cost of illegals:

11 million illegals is where 28% of our national prison inmate population comes from.

Most illegals don’t pay taxes but use social services to include schools, college, medical facilities, roads and and and. Ever think about why you pay $6 dollars for a single Tylenol at a hospital? Like it or not, the cost the Hospital has to absorb from people without insurance (Disproportionately illegals) they just pass on those with health insurance or who pay in cash.

Tell the family of a dead COP that illegal aliens are no threat. Ask yourself how most of the drugs in the US really get here.

The illegal alien issue demonstrates one thing. We are a society where our politicians will sell out their nation. They have no loyalties except to themselves. Knowingly they will take the wrong path and CONDONE illegal activities, grant amnesty and disguise this, they will knowingly allow a porous boarder to persist because they are protecting business interests with cheap labor. They know the Hispanic voting block makes up over 40,000,000 people today. So they turn a blind eye to a boarder where terrorists could easily come across but mandate ridiculous safety measures on air travel! (At the Airport they say: "Take off your shoes ma'am" but I could pump 30 guys easily across our boarder and that they are not concerned about). They will allow those drugs to pour into the US while they declare a war on drugs. Today they will create a “guest worker program” and allow illegals to stay but they won’t call it amnesty either.

This is BS. I am very far right on the political spectrum and frankly Bush deserves to be politically mutilated for this one. If this ends him politically he is well deserving of it.

SO, why is it that the rest of this nation is not as well informed on the real issues? I agree with you 100%. I'm a legal adopted immigrant Army brat from Germany (K-Town). Father, brother and me too....all served in the same branch. SO, I have a real problem when 'the brass' will not follow its own regulations.

Politicians + Greed has always caused serious conflict in the history of mankind....that's the scary part, 'casue it's the average citizen who always pays the price.

I guess I'm naive, but I expect more. A politician in my eyes ONLY has his word. Violate that trust and he is a worthless terd.

Even if the situation gets UGLY, I will stand by someone who also stands by his word. The importance of nation supersedes any personal political ambitions. Kerry politicizing the war (which he supported) is an example of such low life deviant behavior. That is a human without character. A man without a sole.

Who “really” believes they are doing the right thing by granting amnesty to illegal activity or not sealing up that boarder? Who really thinks this is smart? Benefits our nation in fighting crime or terrorism? Helps us keep our healthcare costs down or drugs off the streets? It’s ALL about pandering to voter blocks.

Sadly most Hispanics don’t realize that they are supporting measures that undermine their own economic position.

Sheriff's deputies arrived to find the man badly mauled and still under attack. They said they were able to order the dogs away without using weapons.

Smart dogs. Had no trouble telling the difference between a criminal and sheriff's deputies. This point will come in handy when the business owner is hauled into court, and accused of keeping vicious dogs.

Short cut??? This was the fenced off, locked, and guarded by pit bulls property of a business in Compton, California. Do some Googling on Compton if you're not familiar with it. It is NOT a "small town or rural area", and nobody takes a "shortcut" through other people's property. He tried to commit a crime, and he got killed in the process. This is not a problem in my book. Anybody who is jumping fences into businesses in this area is a career criminal, and an undue burden on hardworking taxpayers, who shouldn't have to pay for decades of imprisonment, public defenders, parole officers, substance abuse "treatment", and theft/destruction of their property.

So not only do you know for a fact that there is no other possible reason for the man jumping the fence, but now you know that he was not merely a criminal, but he was a "career criminal." Yeah, okay.

Perhaps you should follow the case, via local papers online, and publicly available court documents. Then you'll be able to confirm my assessment.

So anyone who does something boneheaded like take a short cut through someone else's property deserves to die and their death is no loss to society.

Deserves? Not necessarily. But the world is an imperfect place. You roll the dice and take your chances.

Or what if he WAS out to pinch some sheet metal? He deserves to die for that?

Wrong question. The right question is:

Is pinching some sheet metal worth risking your life? This man apparently decided yes.

What would be worth trying to find out is how long it took police to respond to the 911 call.

If it took them a relatively long time, say 15 minutes, and during that time these security guards simply stood around, listening to the man's screams and watching the dogs bite the man over and over and over until he died, doing nothing to call off the dogs, then the security guards should be prosecuted.

We are not legally allowed to kill someone solely because he crossed onto our land. This principle is not some recent liberal invention, it has been a part of our law since the earliest times.

Don't get me wrong - if I had to bet, I would bet on the odds that he hopped the fence to commit a crime. But we don't know that for certain, and there are other possibilities as well. For example, he could have been just some drunk homeless guy.

What I find unseemly is the cheering by some people, assuming this guy was a drug-dealing gang-banger with a long list of murders to his credit, when we really don't know for certain that that is in fact the case.
