How could someone like me adopt one of these puppies. In Dec of last year I purchased a Maltee-poo out of a pet store here in the city of El Centro, another bordering town of Mexico, and had the misfortune that it was a sick pup and he died in the hands of the pet store owners. They knew he was sick from the beginning, but the thing I found very suspicious is that they keep the breeder where they supposedly get their pups from a mystery. I'm sure they're brining them from across the border too. How could I get someone to investigate them? I already tried to get the local police to look into it but they are not interested since they did give me my money back. I'd like to have them investigated. Once my story came out in the local paper so many other people who had fallen victims came out with their same stories as mine.

What does "PING to the Doggie list" mean? I would like information, if you have any on where I could go to be on the adoption list for one of these poor puppies. I lost my puppy not long after I got him, I believe he arrived at the pet store the same way these puppies did. How could I get someone to investigate the people running the pet store? I haven't been back ever since they admitted to selling me a sick dog and letting him die after they said they'd have a vet take care of him. I'd like to do something to have this stop.

What does "PING to the Doggie list" mean?

A "Ping" is to alert someone else there is an article they may be interested in. HairOfTheDog maintains a list of those who are dog owners or just enjoy dogs. When I put her name in the "To:" box at the top of my post she was "pinged" to this response/thread. She (or soemone else on the list) may be able to answer your other question.

Ping to the Doggie List means that someone is keeping a list of FReepers who love dogs and like to read stories about them. Hair of the Dog keeps the list, I think. Just drop him a FReep Mail and have your name added and he will ping you every time a dog story comes to his attention. At the top you your screen it will say in Red "Comments", or something like that -- click on the red writing and it will take you to all your "pings".

I don't know anything about your pet store, but I'd report them to the police, or to the Humane Society if you have proof that they sold you a sick dog.

Of course a shelter is a good place to adopt a mut and mutts make very fine pets.

One of the finest creatures (2-legged or 4) the Good Lord ever put on this earth was a total mutt from a shelter. She was smart, healthy, eager to please and full of love for her family.

Coming home every day made me understand how Bill Clinton must have felt walking into a room full of the MSM because she always showed far more affection, loyalty and understanding than I ever deserved. ;~))
