Melissa Etheridge's Partner Pregnant With Twins

NEW YORK — Melissa Etheridge's partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels, is pregnant with twins, the couple has announced on the singer's Web site.

"We are thrilled to announce that Tammy is pregnant, and expecting our twins sometime around this fall," they said in a statement. "To answer the obvious question: we used an anonymous donor from a (sperm) bank."

Etheridge, 44, and Michaels, 31, held a commitment ceremony in 2003. The Grammy-winning singer has two children from her relationship with former partner Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean and son Beckett. Cypher had the children through artificial insemination using a sperm donation from rock legend David Crosby.

In the announcement, posted Monday, Etheridge and Michaels said: "The twins will be a joyful addition to our loving home. We are a blessed family."

Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, but is now cancer-free. She last released a greatest hits album titled, "The Road Less Traveled."

Michaels starred on the 2005 NBC comedy "Committed" and has appeared on Showtime's "The L Word."

She kinda screwed up the first kids pretty bad - dragging them through a messy "all-mommy divorce" and saddling them with a coked up old knucklehead father who probably couldn't pick them out of a lineup.

Since her biological input is nil, she's got another forty or fifty years of trying to get this "having a baby" thing right.

I never got the David Crosby bit, myself. I mean, of all the CS&N or CSN&Y crew, why wouldn't you eschew the balding guys over Graham Nash? Is Crosby more turkey baster friendly? And how would that come up in a converstation, "Hey, Dave, it's Melissa. I know it ain't Thanksgiving but I was hoping you could drop by my place and I don't want you to freak when I pull out the turkey baster."

Anyone care to expound?

Yes, as long as she's rich, she'll get all kinds of chicks willing to do this with her.

This is Melissa's second "wife." Didn't Julie Cypher leave her for a man?
