"We are conducting an independent investigation, and we intend to enter the campus and interview lacrosse players," Shabazz said Thursday. "We seek to ensure an adequate, strong and vigorous prosecution."
Duke is a private institution, and its campus is private property. Shabazz said he has not sought permission to enter but that his group has "received no word that we are not welcome."
John Burness, Duke's vice president for public affairs and community relations, said Thursday that the university will allow a controlled march on campus, as long as the New Black Panthers follow specific rules.
"As an institution we support free speech, and we will treat them like any other group," Burness said. "But we do not permit weapons. We will take necessary steps to keep the campus safe."
One of the key tenets of the New Black Panthers is owning firearms and knowing how to use them, according to the Anti-Defamation League, a national Jewish group that has monitored Shabazz and his followers for years.
"They are a racist and anti-Semitic group," said Myrna Shinbaum, a spokesperson for the New York-based league. "These guys come armed. They carry shotguns to demonstrations. The authorities down there should know this."
Asked whether his followers will be armed when they come to Duke, Shabazz chuckled and said, "I don't know if I can comment on that."

Unbelievable!
Unbelievable is right!
What do you expect from liberal minded birdbrains?
and Imam W.D. Muhammad, Elijah's son, took over and began making 'reforms.' Among these was repudiating some of the racist overtones to the organization, especially its anti-Semitism. That was all well and good, but then he endorsed polygamy. This particular moral shift is what tore Quanell's family apart. His father brought his mother's best friend home to become his second wife, and his mother would have nothing of it. She abandoned the Nation of Islam along with their Muslim family name, and returned back to their 'slave name' Evans. The Evans family also abandoned Los Angeles, moving eastward to Houston. Young Quanell eventually became a drug dealer, starting out with marijuana, and then moving up the proverbial ladder to crack.
One day, however, Quanell X had a revelation upon seeing a speech by Louis Farrakhan, now the leader of the Nation of Islam. Farrakhan appealed to Quanell's deep-seeded prejudices. He largely rejected Muhammad's path of moderation, preaching a vitriolic race-hatred. For the youthful crack dealer, it was a very appealling philosophy.
Upon joining the Nation of Islam, the newly-dubbed Quannel X quickly rose to become a spokesman. However, his over-the-top racist rhetoric continually got him in trouble. At the Gary Graham execution, for example, he said to Houston-area blacks that [i]f you feel that you just got to mug somebody because of your hurt and your pain, go to River Oaks and mug you some good white folks. This was not the kind of publicity that the Nation of Islam wanted, so they kicked him out.
Not long after that, Quanell X joined up with the New Black Panthers, where he's basically been ever since.

But let there be unsubstantiated allegations of "rape" and underage drinking... and HEADS WILL ROLL!
I can imagine the Duke Eddies claiming... Well, even tho polygamy and racism are an important feature of this group.. We still remain a "zero-tolerance" zone.. so no guns, pals, no guns! However, if you plan on bringing a broomstick, we really must limit your visit to our campusssssss.
We'll see if they frisk and disarm these thugs or not.
Providing security against this group will be another costly exercise for the Durham police department, on top of the most expensive DNA testing in NC history.
Taxpayers will have a lot to thank DA Nifong for.
And who said the lacrosse players would have a hard time getting interviews because of the taint from this scandal?
"We as black men cannot sit idly by and allow white men to rape black women, regardless of what our sister (who by nature is a queen and a divine black woman) was doing," Shabazz is quoted as saying in a media release announcing the event.
Good Freakin Grief!!! "regardless of what out sister was doing"...what your sista is doing is LYING!
The Lyin' Queen!
(ya think she's been ministered to by the Lyin' King himself, Clintoon?)
Well since they are not Republicans, it's OK.
Possibly LOL
This whole story makes me ill. Ive gone on lotsa threads and defended true rape victims. I dont believe that a women "deserves" to be raped because she wears a short skirt, is walking in a dark alley, or is in any seemingly precarious environment (whether she is black, white or purple), BUT, lying about being raped is unforgivable and when the truth of this case comes to light, my wish is that this girl is charged to the fullest extent of the law.
Armed New Black Panthers want to march on campus and "interview" lacrosse players. Gutless administration says "Fine!"
This is getting so out of hand...it sounds like these Black Panthers are gonna go looking for LAX players.....I think if I was one of their parents I'd pull my kid out of school....which is really sad...exams are getting close...

Queen??? Divine??? They should be talking to the rappers.
Uh-huh. And next week the Ku Klux Klan is scheduled?
ping
Good day to not be on campus.
Exactly.
I'm wondering if it's going to turn out like the November 7, 1979 shootout in Greensboro between the Communist Workers Party and a KKK/Nazi organization.
Sounds like a win-win.
(In the shuffling madness ...)
Maybe they should take this with them:
