Checking to see if there is any campus buzz.
What is up with this? The NBPP makes a statement to strike fear. Obviously, no LAX player is going to be withing 50 miles of campus. (It's nice at the ocean this time of year.) So, what's the point of this? More free publicity. Since their "event" was a complete bust the other night, had to do something, right? I'll make sure my student has buckets of hot oil ready to dump from the upper level windows just in case...
Re: campus buzz. "Haven't heard anything. Sure there will be an email if anything is going to go on."
If my son was one of the lacross players, I would be there making it very clear that there was no way any of these black panthers were getting anywhere near him. These kids family members and friends need to show up in huge numbers and peacefully support them. This is getting way out of hand! It is too bad that the faculty and school administrators don't have the guts to stand up for them.
A report I read yesterday said they were going to rally at Chapel Drive and Duke University Road which, as you know, is the official entrance to West Campus. Then they were purportedly going to march over to the house on 610 Buchanan. I think they're too lazy for that long a walk. Because it's much shorter, I can see them going west on Duke U. Road and then up Edens drive to protest in Edens Quad.
You betcha'. Gutless President Brodhead needs to make sure that the lax players get individual police protection.
This Duke administration is ridiculous. Way to stand by your students.
I figured that might be a destination, too. Hence my "hot oil" statement - half sincere/ half sarc.
Although, if I were them, I'm not so sure I'd like to get myself into such a small area. Nowhere to run to, baby....
sigh..."hit them"
LOL. I love it!! All suggestions will be forwarded forthwith!!
It's more than too bad. I submit if anything happens to any of those students, if one hair is harmed on their heads, Duke's administration is going to have more legal problems than a bogus rape charged by a seriously disturbed woman on their hands.By virtually offering up their own student body as sacrificial lambs to this violently extremist anti-semitic, racist organization, handing out an engraved invitation to these freaks to spew their hate on their own students, they will be legally complicit if any kids are hurt. And Boardhead or whatever his name is is surely going to be held responsible for the precipitous decline in admission applications at Duke for years down the road. (What parent in their right mind would pay good money to send their kid to an institution so cowardly it would just throw its students to racist wolves like this? And the TIPS program? Who in god's name is going to send their 7th grader into this scary cesspool where the spineless nutjobs in administration show such callous disregard for kids' welfare?)
As others have said, this is UN-BE-LIEVABLE!
Words fail me.
Duke upholds its tradition of having no values except a commitment to provide a platform for the destruction of Western civilication.
Clearly, the LAX community and anyone else on campus who feels threatened has a right -- a responsibility -- to arm and protect himself from an assault sanctioned by the university.
Duke has run off their lacrosse coach who was a menace to campus safety [sarcasm] and now Mr. Burness is welcoming this violent group onto campus in the midst of this explosive situation?
I predict that even Duke will reverse this idiotic statement of Mr. Burness. He certainly needs to be fired. He is inviting a gun battle on his campus. He is insane. Dangerously so.
*whacks SirJohn upside head*
Only if it ends like a Shakespearean tragedy...
Details?
I am having trouble finding the posts about this; but short version: held a fund-raiser for AV that was poorly attended and only raised $400+. I will keep looking. (And if I got the group who held the fund-raiser wrong, I most heartily apologize.) bbl
I humbly apologize, too.... :\
