We are with you. We are outraged with you. We will fight back for you..... .Rest assured, we will not rest until justice is done, especially the strong brothers. (snip)
Single mothers sometimes bring their kids to class, setting them up with juice and crayons in the back of Mass Comm. (snip) The most mundane beginnings explain her life. The youngest of three children, she grew up in Durham. Her father drove trucks and worked a second job cleaning cars on an auto lot. Her 1996 graduation photo from Hillside High School shows a girl with shoulder-length braids and a placid expression, neither serious nor smiling. In the space where other seniors included their hopes for the future, hers is blank.

Another Media article contrasting the Hard working people of Durham and the hard working students at NCCU to the evil , white, privleged partiers at Duke.
IMO, the WASH POST explains her life (she had no choice you see) and outlines how anyone faced with the same circumstances would become a stripper and a charged felon.
Symbols are very important...to people who find rational thought to be too exhausting.
This isn't about race or class, it is about truth and justice.
Too bad the latter are so unimportant these days...
Often wondered where "Human Resource's" personnel were educated (using the term loosely).
I thought blacks were really atuned to a "rush to judgment".
" "It's like they can't believe that any white man could rape a black woman."
We're always told what to think , but wouldn't be easier to just give us the numbers.
What are the numbers for non-hispanic white rape of black females, and black rape of white females?
This "journalism" is truly outrageous. It's apparent they seem to be furthering the Alleged victim's defender's spin that took a Joy Ride in a cab.
In truth, with her license ALREADY revoked, she ripped off one of her 'customers' at a strip club, she committed larceny and tried to run over a police officer. It's a long article, but I didn't see any mention of her trying to run over a police officer. I didn't see her problems with substance abuse detailed in the article (3 license suspensions, WRAL).
This article if typical of the Main Stream Media. They are, purposefully, taking us farther away from the details of the case and saying this GROUP of people have it hard and have many redeeming qualities and this OTHER group of people are privleged and undeserving. Criminal Courts acknowledge and deal with INDIVIDUALS. In this case, with the two EX-CON stripper twins, it doesn't serve the media's purpose to examine the individuals, but examining an entire group allows them to make it seem like this woman was trapped and had no other choices in life.
They conveniently use a timeline that would help Nifong even though it goes against the word of the second stripper and an on-camera eyewitness account provider by the neighbor that happens to match photos that are in the possession of the Defense.
There's no mention of the multiple lies by Kim Roberts that night, in fact they are misleading in describing that "the dancers left together, and Roberts drove to a grocery store, where police were called." How different if that from what really happened. Roberts lied on a 911 call and blocked her number and identity while calling the cops and mentioning NO RAPE or Injury. Roberts attempted to dump the accuser at the Kroger. When the accuser wouldn't get out of her car, she asked a Kroger security guard for help. Again, Roberts lied to the security guard about how Crystal came to be in her car. The article neglects to mention there was an outstanding warrant out for Roberts. It fails to mention that a police station is less than a mile away and much closer than Kroger.
The article does not mention it took 31 hours for the dancer to remember any details of the event and 3 weeks to ID someone.
The article states that the woman has said almost nothing on her behalf. When, in fact, News&Observer reporters interviewed her extensively at least once and the resulting story printed contained contradictions and untruths - attributed to the accuser.
These people want to lynch those Duke boys. How times have changed.
Statistics on Rape, cross-race:
0.0 percent of black victims were raped by white males,
see the explanation in the source below.
"There is no current trend of white men raping black women, in other words. In fact, though sample sizes are considered too small to draw any solid conclusions, the most recent figures show that among white rape victims, 15.5 percent of those rapes were perpetrated by blacks, while 0.0 percent of black victims were raped by white males. (Zero in this case is a rounded figure meaning that the total number of black women raped by white men is between 0 and half of 1 percent of the total.)"

IMO, Urban Legend is contributing to this perception by blacks that White men rape black women in
relatively large numbers. I was tuning the Radio and I heard this Black station out of Durham. The Caller said the Duke boys did again what they did to that other girl and, if they aren't put away - they'll do it again. One of the Radio hosts said, that's true they got away with it before.
So, I looked for this other Duke Gang Rape in Durham.
This is what I found:
"They're trying to do to this girl what they did with that other girl," said James Fields, 81, alluding to an alleged rape of an NCCU student in 2001. "They'll try to degrade her any way they can."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/11/AR2006041101942.html
So NCCU Rape 2001 took me to this:
Two suspects in the alleged gang rape of a female N.C. Central University student were released Jan. 26 after the student decided to drop charges and NO PROBABLE CAUSE could be found.
Twin brothers Nathan and Quincy Rouson were arrested on Jan. 14 for second-degree rape and crimes against nature. They were detained in Durham County Jail with a bond of $50,000 each.

Sounds like two black guys (and 15 friends) from Roxboro - NOT DUKE STUDENTS.
THIS SURE LOOKS LIKE A URBAN LEGEND. This may be contributing to the outrage in Durham.
In 1970 there was very little interracaial rape.
Since then things have changed.
Racism is clearly involved, that must be why the media won't put out those numbers.
Your link reveals why.
This case smelled so badly of unethical politics that I couldn't stand to watch it unfold.
I have a feeling a student at Duke is probably ten to fifteen times more likely to be the victim of a violent crime at the hands of one of the townsfolk than the other way around.
Not a lot of white guys named Quincy under the age of 65...
If I were a stripper,
I'd be strippin' in the morning
I'd be strippin' in the evening,
All over this land
I'd strip despite danger,
I'd yell you a warning,
I'd strip about sex between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
If I wore some bells,
I'd tingle in the morning,
I'd tingle in the evening,
All over this land
I'd tingle 'bout danger,
I'd tingle you a warning
I'd tingle 'bout sex between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
If I stripped to a song,
I'd be strippin' in the morning,
I'd be strippin ' in the evening,
All over this land
I'd strip despite danger,
I'd yell you a warning
I'd strip about sex between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
Well I went and got hammered,
And I tinkled like a bell,
And I got a bong to smoke, all over this land.
It's the hammer of vodka,
It's the tinkle of too much beer,
It's the strippin' about sex between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.
That applies to the district attorney, and to the complainants, and to the young men at the party: Forgive each other.
Instead, now, take the path of improving themselves, obtaining and maintaining good principles which are the bases of good conduct, and go in peace.
God Bless
