Practically the entire state is under either abnormally dry or drought conditions, that might encourage them the venture out more. And we're at the beginning of their mating season too - which always gives them 'wander lust.'

The lake a few miles from my house is going to have nearly 400 permits issued for the next hunt season.

An important safety tip...ALWAYS carry a roll of duct tape.

(And a can of WD-40)

Will you be participating in the harvest?
Bring your duct tape, as fintan says!

They match gator teeth to the victim's bite marks.

Man! I have to wonder would there be anything left of you to match up if a monster like that grabbed you.

Coincidently I read the regs yesterday. I know some experienced folks and I was thinking about talking to them about it. My bow would need some updating - hasn't been used in a long time (would need new sights, to be restrung, and I think it would need to hold a spool to send out a 'restraining line.')

I was also curious about the specific bangstick that the reqs mentioned. Didn't seem like very complicated hardware.

Check your freepmail - bangsticks are necessary (.45cal I recommend). Easy to use, just keep the dangerous end down!

The 400 lb. gator that was captured last week (and killed, I believe) had one of the missing women's arms in his stomach. :(

History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of man.

Totally unrelated but interesting story...yeas ago, back in the 50's my aunt and uncle would spend a two months in Florida each winter..they'd drive. In 53, when I was 6...I got to go with them because my brother had just been born..my uncle had just gotten a big new Olds Rocket 98.. We'd visited some relatives in Tampa, and were heading to Miami across Alligator Alley, which back then was just a two-lane blacktop..flat and straight as an arrow..they never enforced the speed limits, so the car, with that BIG Olds engine, was running flat out, probably about 80-90..I was in the back seat...when all of a sudden, a huge BLAM....We hit a buzzard..flat on the windsield..it must have been flying across the road a few feet off the ground. BIG BIRD...it cracked the windshield...came through it..ended up in my aunt's lap..blood and guts EVERYWHERE...what a mess..it was real neat..
