(CBS) CHICAGO Police confiscated millions of dollars worth of drugs Saturday on the Southwest Side.
Officers reported they observed two suspicious men at a known drug area on the Southwest Side. The men were opening large Home Depot boxes in a parking lot in the 3200 block of West 51st Street, and officers followed them as they left the lot in a van, police said.
Police say their interest was piqued when they noticed the Home Depot boxes looked tattered and torn.
The van pulled into a garage in the 4600 block of South Spaulding Avenue, where one of the man began unloading the boxes, police said. When the man noticed the officers, he fled on foot, and police were unsuccessful in catching them.
But upon returning to the van, they smelled a strong odor from the back of the vehicle, and found the three Home Depot boxes, all wrapped in electrical tape, along with a giant handbag.
Inside the boxes were 83 pounds of marijuana and close to 96,000 pounds of ecstasy, police said.
As of 8 p.m., no one had been arrested in the drug bust.
Must have been one of those fifty ton vans.
Not another Patches Kennedy story!
Well the HOME DEPOT box was a huge clue. Since that place hires ILLEGALS, I won't be gracing their doorways anytime soon...
I am glad there are journalism schools using our tax money to churn out people that are employed though they lack the ability to think. Keeps the fools from being on welfare I guess.
Though I am not a cop, I would have followed a van capabale of transporting 50 ton boxes. Must have been the size of the crawler that rolls out the Space Shuttle to the launch pad. It would have been interesting to see.
Must have been a big @ss handbag too!!!
Automatic Assault weapons are much more common according to most dumbass reporters...
Big Libertarian Ping?

"Inside the boxes were 83 pounds of marijuana and close to 96 pounds of ecstasy."
Yep, continued connection between pot and harder drugs.
Too bad this bust wasn't at the home to confiscate that property to pay for some of the expense of policing their sorry @ss.
