regarding the controversy how some people don't like to hear spanish spoken - I say to those who get upset that if you don't like hearing it, then you should petition the government in washington not to let them in. They have been let in though and purposely so. Therefore, you are obligated to respect them.
There are a few parts of your reasoning, which seem erroneous to me. If you disagree just say so, but I think it needs to be pointed out that most of the people who are not assimilating and predominantly speaking Spanish are illegal aliens. Thus technically no one let them in in the first place which nullifies the justification in your statement that people need to respect them because our government let them in. If the government let them in they would not be "illegal" as long as they abide under the terms which were agreed upon when entrance was granted to them.
Secondly, the government is a little hard of hearing as far as petitions go, the government defied its people on immigration in 1965 and several times thereafter, afterall money seems to speak louder than constituents.

my family was in arizona before the gringos were here.Is that comment supposed to be racist? You are going to get flamed and rightly so. Beleive it or not most of those "gringo's" are trying to live a color-blind life and respect people for their actions, not skin color.
