I used the live DVD for my install. I did this because I already have debian stable and testing on that box and wanted to evaluate before adding another. Now I have all three.
The live DVDs are located here, I used BitTorrent to download them.
Ubuntu uses GNOME:

Some people consider KDE easier to use. Kubuntu is Ubuntu with KDE instead on GNOME.
Kubuntu uses the K Desktop Environment:

Thanks. For the time that I used Mandrake, I found that I preferred the KDE desktop to Gnome's. I think I'll try Kubuntu.
