Friday firearms question
My own bad self | 9JUN06 | Gefreiter

Posted on 06/09/2006 12:40:20 PM PDT by Gefreiter

Circimstances are such that I no longer need my Sig P220. I'd like something a little smaller and easier to wear concealed.

A local dealer (from whom I bought the Sig, a used LEO trade-in) offered to trade outright for a brand new Walther P99 or a new Sig P232 Stainless.

I was leaning toward the Walther, but welcome anyone's experience with either weapon.

Thanks in advance,

G

I just bought a Bersa 380. Seems like a nice little pistol, and has some good reviews.

Well, I never shot one. He didn't have one of those though. It looks like the Sig 232, but I didn't care at all for the Sig's mag release being at the bottom of the grip.

Check this CZ out http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/cz_0620
I have a Browning HP, but like this better. DA/SA.
Very concealable. I paid 2/3 of retail for a 2003 a year ago.

Dude. Quit thinking so light. See what kind of trade in you can get on one of these:

the 232 is probably a fair trade for a plain 220 in .45, altho i think .380 is a bit light. which 220 do you have?

I intend to make it a reality before the end of this year.

The Walther's are not made by the same manufacturer and I am not satisfied with the current quality. I would choose the 232 over the Walther P99.

In the spring my son was enamoured with the Walther 22 the little one, can't remember the model # and when he held it was disappointed compared to the SIG Mosquito 22. He was really happy with the SIG instead.

My summer carry weapon of choice is a hammerless ultra-light 38 special.....the plus is it won't jamb and never leaves brass behind....should it be needed.

How much do you want for the Sig?

Most Sig magazine release is on the receiver, not the bottom.

Yeah, that's what I mean- I'm so used to having the mag release there that I'm too lazy to train on having it in a different place.

I had a P99 and got rid of it. In terms of dependability it was OK, but it had a bump on the bottom inside of the trigger guard that would abrade my trigger finger after 50 rounds. Also the toggle type mag release was a problem. I found myself trying to release a 1911 mag by pushing down on the trigger guard, thinking "This could be embarassing." I'd go with the SIG.
