Well, it sounds like it's about time you tried it then. You don't know what you're missing. What kinda horse are you looking for, age and skills-wise and all that?

Registered Quarter Horse, preferably with Poco Bueno and/or Two Eyed Jack bloodlines, 4 to 8 years old, 14.2 to 15 hands, well muscled, good solid hoofs, blue roan or buckskin would be nice, bomb proof and ready to ride.

I just checked the web. According to Alapark - trails there is a six-mile horse trail at Bucks Pocket. That's where I got my idea you could ride horses in the state parks.
