A dog needs to outweigh a cat by a factor of ten, at least, to make it an even fight. If the cat is a Bengal, make that twenty.

I've seen a large housecat literally take apart a Rottweiler that was trying to kill it. Some of them can become furry buzzsaws if provoked. (Yes, the cat won - the dog died from its wounds later).
It's not the size of the cat in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the cat, to borrow a phrase.
