The Dragonflies Lair~Thread XXIX
The Muse and Poets of the Lair | July 12, 2006 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Our shoes have walked this way before
in and out the cyber door
friendships forged in solid gold
to have, to hold for centuries told

As foot prints left in old bogs
dry to leave a deep impression
so a friend's poetry binds
the years of loyal support

offered with a poetic twist
affections with deep respect
one poet to another

Welcome back my friend of old
who comes on cat paws in the night
to leave treasures of the word
then silently slip back into the
blackness of night

leaving visages of night time visits

So glad you're back on line.

Three today, she saw
The trees flare briefly like
The candles on a cake,
As the sun went down the sky,
A momentary flash,
Yet there was time to wish

Adapted by LJ from a Donald Justice poem.

Your communication skills are very mature when compared to the average 3 year old.

Hi miss Feather

Dante's Prayer
Loreena McKennitt

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and the fire

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We'll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me...

Oh how much do I love this song?
Oh how much does it touch me?

It touches my soul with ribbons
of grace and moves my soul to sob
and weep, yet, my heart smiles
at the wondrous beauty of the melody.

Thank You, so much for the gorgeous presentation.

My favorite line is...

"I did not believe because I could not see"

How limiting it would be, to only believe in the things we can see.

I'm so glad you enjoy it as much as I do.

Isn't poetry a wonderful gift?

The lyrics were written by a fabulous poet.
