July 25, 2006 -- ESPN yesterday fired analyst Harold Reynolds from Baseball Tonight, sources told The Post. The reason was not immediately known.

"We are not going to comment," ESPN VP Josh Krulewitz said.

When asked how they are going to explain that Reynolds will never be on the air again, Krulewitz still declined comment.

Harold Reynolds was always one of the "nice guys" in baseball. He was always active with charities and participated in a lot of civic events when he played 2B in Seattle. I was a big fan as a kid, watching him play many games in the Kingdome. He wasn't the most eloquent broadcaster, but I always enjoyed watching him on ESPN. I'm curious to see how this unfolds...

Given the way ESPN sensationalizes sex, violence, and over the top behavior in general, it will be interesting to find out what exactly you have to do to get fired from ESPN ... say something nice about FOX Sports?

I always liked his broadcast style. He actually has some worthwhile commentary, unlike most other commentators.

This doesn't look good though. When the networks don't want to comment it's usually "just about sex." Where have I heard that before....

He must have refused the sexual advances of Peter Gammons.

Darn, he was easily the best of ESPN's baseball crew.

Of course it was some years back, but, a book I read covered some serious sexual harassment done by someone they kept on.In fact, he was the lead announcer for ABC/ESPN at the British Open this past weekend.

This is incredible. Reynolds was a thoughtful, well-spoken analyst who never ridiculed players or played the hero-worshiper. He will be missed.

Just to be fair he is not fighting for his life. He is recovering at home now.

I liked Reynolds. Just speculation here, but I have to wonder if Joe Morgan isn't somehow involved in this. I know fans have constantly said on the boards they preferred Reynolds on the game broadcasts over "holier than thou" Joe.

I will take Reynolds over Joe Morgan any day.

Question: How will this affect 'Fantasy League Baseball Analysis'?

Smile...

He wasn't the most eloquent broadcaster...

No... no he wasn't, but he did above average work and was paying attention to the game he was covering. Half the schmucks they got out there are too busy trying to be funny, flippant or up on the latest celebrity gossip.
