I read in one of the links (maybe the Herald-Sun) that Nifong had just under $2,000 left in his campaign chest.
According to campaign finance reports filed with the state board of elections, the Monks campaign had $4,251.20 on hand as of July 7, while Nifong's campaign, which spent more than $66,000 winning the primary against two opponents, had $1,945.
