(VANITY) Yet another automotive question
08-07-2006 | James P

I hate to be posting yet another vanity, but I have yet another question for those FReeps who have automotive knowledge.

As some of you already know, I'm pretty intensively searching for a replacement for my aging auto, and I'm finding it hard to find a vehicle that suits me, and for those of you who've read my threads on this you know pretty much what I'm looking for.

I've on and off considered buying a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, and I was wondering if any FReepers have owned or test driven one and if those who have reccommend them. It's not a common trim of the Sentra so they're a bit hard to come by, and the closest one I can find to test drive is a solid two hours away and I've yet to find time to drive down to it and try it out. It seems to meet most of my requirements witht the exception of styling: it still looks like an econobox to me, even though it's quite a bit higher in the pecking order than that.

Thanks in advance for the opinions folks!

Can't afford a new one. And even if I could, I'd want to test drive it before I bought it.

Go look at Hyundai. I bought my daughter an Elantra last year and she loves it. They also have the others that are more expensive. I just bought my wife and I a new Mini Van the Hyundai Entourage. On both of these, its a 10 yr., 100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain and 5 yr 60,000 on everything else. For a little more, you get the full 10 yr coverage on the whole vehicle. Plus they have a 5 yr deal where if you lock the keys in the car,run out of gas, have a flat or whatever call an 800 number and they will come to you. I think its the best deal in the industry at this time. Plus the prices are great.

Actually, I have been looking at a Tiburon. I'm concerned about its fuel economy, though. 26 mpg from 170 HP engine isn't that good. My dad's Corvette gets almost that much: 24 mpg, and it's a 350 HP V8. Although, in compensation, the Tiburon doesn't need premium gasoline either.
