With maybe two or three exceptions (Grateful Dead, Eagles and a couple others), the most legendary groups in history have been from the UK. Unless this poll was limited to people under 20 years old, I don't see how they ever came up with the Spice Girls.

The Jam were one of the top sellling artists in U.K. history. They part of the 'class of 77' that included the Sex Pistols and the Clash. But they are most known for being the band that launched the "mod" movement. Oh yeah, they also played ferocious rock and roll.

Perhaps you have heard of ex-Jammer Paul Weller, who is now a solo artist of some renown.

True. You simply have to take any poll with a grain of salt as the way questions are posed and the likely influence of the questioner are often mitigating factors.
