For years, Goodell stood in the background, less noticeable than a pylon. Behind the scenes, as a man who rose from an intern to the league's Chief Operating Officer, Goodell helped key almost every major move, whether it was expansion, stadium construction or the creation of a new collective bargaining agreement.
But now one of the league's most invisible men will be its most visible, with his face as out front as Tagliablue's has been the past 17 years.
Fans will get to know Goodell the way they know their favorite players. And this is some of what they will learn: Goodell's father, Charles, was the New York Republican Congressman that was appointed to fill the seat that was vacated when Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Goodell's wife, Jane Skinner, serves as a daytime news anchor on the FOX News Channel, providing news updates at the top and bottom of the hour.
Her latest report can be about the man she wed. Roger Goodell, the man who made his mark listening to others and killing with competence, is now the most renown member of his family.
He is the new commissioner of the NFL.

Charles Goodell, who died in 1987 at age 60, is perhaps best remembered for his shift from establishment Republican to critic of the Vietnam War and the Nixon White House when he moved from the House of Representatives to the U.S. Senate.
The younger Goodell, the second of four boys, is married to Jane Skinner, a Fox News anchor. She is the daughter of Sam Skinner, who served as secretary of Transportation and chief of staff under President George H.W. Bush.
Gorgeous couple!! I believe they have twins, and Pubbies, to boot ....
wow....I had no idea. Cool.
Very cool ... what a neat couple.
Bump for later
Outstanding! More of the establishment elite breeding so they can produce more of the same. Just what we need in all strata of our society, more people out of touch with the main stream of America.
Ping.

Needn't sound so bitter ... it says that he got to where he is by being low key and competent .. that IS exactly what we need. I'd never heard of him before reading this article, and from watching her almost daily on Skinnerville, have never seen her put on airs. Sorry their breeding and upbringing offend you.
Give the guy credit, he has great taste in women.
I heard that...she's a nice looking babe, not overly dolled up, just understated beauty. Now that Kimberly Collagenjoy-- she's another story.
I feel the same way about Linda Vester, although I think she might be more "dolled up" as you put it. You can be the judge, though:
I'm not bitter. I was making a personal observation. His dad was a rat and that causes me pause. Also, I'm not a supporter of power couples for the simple reason they don't relate to main stream Americans, they usually spend their time and energy looking down their noses at main stream Americans.
They're so desperate to have a "blow up" story that they're trying to manufacture one.
I always listen to the radio broadcast. I'm such a homer.
Same here. I like a little partisanship in my sportscasting and for me there's no better homerism than right here. :)
Wasn't able to open your link but I'm guessing that's the Raiders broadcasting network. Just a hunch.
How bout them Cowboys! 17- Zip over the Aints at halftime.
Yup, good ol' 560 KSFO (for some reason I can't post external links). Hey where are they playing the Cowboys/Sains game? Looks like they're in Mobile.
Shreveport, or better known as Tony Kornheiser's dream locale.
