An Open Letter to George Bush from an ANGRY Conservative

An Open Letter to President Bush

Dear Mr. President

There are times when tough things have to be said and this is one of them. I voted for you twice and for the first time in my life, I am sorry I did. Sir, you lied to us and let us all down. I have been a loyal conservative since the days of President Reagan. You sir are no conservative.

In that day following 9/11, you tried to bring this country together to face and fight our enemy. You tried to heal the divisions that exist. Both attempts were a failure. Like Japan in 1941, Al Queda struck a cowardly blow against our nation. Our response to this act of war was timid at best. Yes, we struck the Afghan hideout of our enemy but we let them get away. We dilly- dallied while trying to make nice with countries that didn’t really give a damn about us. You attempted to get Saddam’s accomplices France and Germany to go along. You wasted precious time with the United Nations. When we should have projected our strength, we projected weakness. The same holds true for Iraq. I supported and still support the invasion. We again however forgot that the military’s main function is to kill the enemy. Not build schools and deliver meals. Now we are stuck fighting in a place that should have capitulated long ago.

On the domestic front, you have been even worse. You cut taxes, temporarily. What good is that? You knew, as did your party, that the opposition would let you have them but never keep them. A half measure like that is no help at all. Your tax reform commission painstakingly looked at every option for tax reform, as long as it was income tax. You never seriously looked at other options whether they were a flat tax or The Fair Tax. Again you snookered us into thinking you were different.

No Child Left Behind. Was this your idea of a joke? Let’s see, “conservative” President lets socialist Ted Kennedy write the education bill. This is possibly the most convoluted piece of legislation ever written. It is nothing more than a concession to the teacher’s unions. It does nothing to reform the failing education system across America. Rather than find ways to return education to local control you did everything in your power to keep the bloated federal education bureaucracy in place. It never dawned on you that this nation produced some of the greatest minds of the 20th century without the federal government’s help.

Your immigration policy is non-existent. You flat out refuse to uphold your constitutional duty to protect this country from invasion. You kowtow to your buddies in business and turn a blind eye to their flagrant violation of law. Our borders remain open to all manner of criminal and terrorist that chooses to come over. While I can appreciate people seeking a better life, we are more concerned with whether the corrupt and inefficient governments of Latin America like us or not. Screw them! By choosing not to stop this problem by decisive means, you are putting our sovereignty at risk. Just like Rome, they allowed the Goths into the empire and before long the empire ceased to exist. You obviously never studied history at Yale.

Social Security reform where did that disappear? If this program had been started by a private citizen they would be in jail for running a Ponzi scheme. You started a debate but when it got too tough for you, you turned tail and ran. In a perfect world, Social Security would be shut down as the waste of money it is. This isn’t a perfect world so finding a better alternative would be key. You just dropped the ball. Young people today are paying benefits into a system that will probably be broke by the time they may get to claim it. You shrunk from the socialist rhetoric that your plan was a big business ploy and refused to stand up for yourself. What a pussy! You also saddled my kids and grandkids with the Medicare drug plan. Again, you lied to us. Your estimate was 400 million; make it more like billions and into the trillions in coming years. Wow, how conservative of you.

Energy self-suffiency, with you at the helm, a pipe dream to be sure. You are too timid to call the socialist’s bluff and demand that we open our known oil and gas fields to support our needs and tell the Islamonazis to go pound sand. Like any time the government gets involved with private industry it will only hamper entrepreneurs from finding alternative fuels and vehicles. Take the chains off and let us take care of this issue, please. Being slaves to Arabs is not what this country was founded on.

In short sir, you have lied to pander to interests to save your own neck. You have supported nothing even remotely conservative. You have increased government spending and programs on a scale even the USSR would have been in awe of. You stuck the government’s nose into areas and issues over which they had no business being in. Can you say Terri Schaivo? You snookered us good George. You are no more conservative than Clinton. I only hope and pray that America wakes up from it’s TV slumber and realizes our liberty and heritage have been stolen from us. I pray that the liberty loving Americans rise up and take back our government from you and your liberal, intrusive, nanny state cronies before we become the People’s Republic of Ameristan.

George W. Bush never lied about his immigration policy. Never. Even in 2000, he made it clear that he welcomed immigrants from our southern border. He declared that we were in a "New America."

I don't like current immigration policies one bit. I'd like to see the border closed to illegal immigrants.

But Bush telegraphed his intentions clearly.

Gosh, I guess you won't be voting for Bush for President in 2008, then?

"Yeah we should have known that the oath of office was just a head fake."

Apparently, President Bush's interpretation of the Constitution differs from yours in some respects. I'd guess the same could be said of every past President, as well.

I remember when Ronald Reagan did the first amnesty program for illegal aliens. Had you forgotten that one? There is precedent for just about everything George W. Bush has done in office.

You don't like some of the things he has done? Well, join the crowd. I cannot remember any President with whom I have been completely pleased. Can you?

He ignores the Constitution even where he explicitly acknowledges its meaning. Proof: McCain-Feingold.

George W. Bush never lied about his immigration policy. Never.

I believe that the President has been less than candid about enforcement.
