I have several house only cats. One way to get them out and about is to use the vacuum cleaner around the whole house. Usually you'll see them scatter.
Another thing is to clean ALL of the litter boxes and rake them. That way if the Kittie uses one, you can tell so you'll at least know the cat is in the house.

The can opener is another calling card.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Sorry I am so late on this thread. I once lost a cat and an entire litter of kittens. Looked everywhere and finally heard kitten sounds under the couch. Still couldn't see them. They were in between the fabric liner and the bottom of the couch!

Cats are endlessly entertaining. Glad you found the scoundrel!

We turned off the lights, and it came out of a couch we checked like seriesly 15 times.

It's my cat's abilities to hide and glide that caused me to put belled collars on them. Now I not only know where they are, I can tell from how much jingling is going on kind of what they're up to. You might want to consider doing the same.

Snakes, too.

When growing up, my oldest sister kept a few snakes. Knowing my mom (now) I can't imagine her ever letting snakes in the house. But, one of the snakes disappeared. It was a good week later that it was found in the mattress (still very much alive and well). Just about gave my mom a heart attack at the time.

I have the flu or some horrible crud. I'm miserable.

I am thinking of starting a live thread about it.
