? For Dell Computer Owners

Posted on 09/01/2006 8:58:47 PM PDT by hsmomx3

I just got a little pop-up on my system that lets me know when a driver is outdated.

Have any of you received this and have you downloaded it:

Can't help you there. When I buy an already made PC, the first thing I do is blow out the OS, reformat, and reinstall the OS with my software.

Had you recently added any new hardware, or made any hardware changes?

No, it was a pop up from Dell Support. I never download drivers as I don't trust them.

If it gets annoying either go ahead and install the new driver(it should be ok), or disable the service that is causing it to check for driver updates.

Based on the number of complaints we see on this forum, Dell users have more problems than other computer users, and Macs have the fewest problems. And noone has answered the original question about the outdated driver.

I have (2) dell computers and have never had a pop-up for driver updates. I would not trust the pop-up!

My suggestion would be to go to the Dell site and look for driver updates for your specific computer. It will ask for your service tag# from your computer and will list any updates that would be beneficial to your machine.

Dell is very helpful with the updates and includes detailed instructions for helping you install them correctly.
