A man is accused of molesting a 12-year-old boy at a park Sunday afternoon.
Jose Martinez-Frias, 45, reportedly admitted to molesting the child at Lamont Park, according to a news release from the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
Martinez-Frias, an illegal immigrant who had previously been deported from the U.S., did not know the child, sheriff's senior deputy John Money said.
After the incident, the boy went to a pay phone and called 911. The boy reported that he was molested at about 1:30 p.m. He had gone to the park by himself, Money said.
The molestation reportedly took place in a common area by a playground and baseball field. A few other people were in the area at the time, Money said.
Deputies from the Lamont Substation arrived soon after the call and arrested Martinez-Frias on suspicion of lewd acts with a child under 14, molesting a child, sexual battery and immigration violations. He was booked into the downtown jail.
Money said Martinez-Frias does not have a criminal record.
To help prevent incidents of molestation, Money recommended that children who are not supervised by adults only go out with a group of friends and visit places they're familiar with.
"Most victims are by themselves," Money said.
Bakersfield police Detective Greg Terry said parents should talk with their children about what to do when approached by a stranger. Molesters will hang out in areas, including parks, where they have access to children, Terry said.
Children should never follow a stranger or give information about themselves, he added. They should just walk away.
"Scream and yell if (the stranger) grabs you, and create as much of a disturbance as possible," Terry said.
But he's not gay. No siree. don't even think that.
Yes, and gay men don't prey on little boys.
/sarcasm/
He was only molesting the children American perverts won't.
Agreed. In fact this happened because we don't have enough gay recruiting programs in our schools and how-to lessons on sodomy. If we did, this big "misunderstanding" would never have happened </sarcasm >
"Money said Martinez-Frias does not have a criminal record."
"Jose Martinez-Frias................an illegal immigrant who had previously been deported from the U.S."
Now, entering into our country illegally is not a criminal? Semantics, I guess.
Ping
Most likely an illegal alien.
Third sentence would have told you that.
Back in high school (16 yrs old - 11th grade)1967, I was hitchhicking - it was a pretty safe way to travel around in Irving, Texas back then - I was picked up by some guy who proceeded to try to paw, suggestive talk, etc while driving down the freeway (not much you can really do in that case).
I didn't scream and yell, but I talked to him like I was playing along, and mentioned that I knew a few other guys who would like to join in on the "fun". I told him I was going to meet them at the local denney's restaurant so he took me there.
I got out of the car, went inside where I knew several others from the football team I was on were working part time and told them that there was a pervert out in the parking lot that wanted to meet them.
They met him.
No need for police - no need for scumbag lawyers nor crooked progressive judges. The man in the car did not go to jail and neither did he ever show his face around there again.
Simple and just.
I don't know if moving up here would really be "escaping".
What part of SR do you live in? And do you have the a/c on right now?
The Lords of Bakersfield?
:-o
Heard a local radio show interviewing a sherrif's official who said the perp would probably serve a few years and be deported. He's committed sex crimes before and he's been deported before also.
