FX WEIGHS IN ON GENDER ID(iow BRAD PITT IS NUTS)

FX and "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy have made a deal for a new drama called "4 oz." that will follow the metamorphosis of a married sportswriter who is a transsexual.

Murphy will exec produce with Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner as Pitt makes his first series foray.

Murphy, who has begun writing a pilot episode he hopes to shoot early next year, told Daily Variety that he has mapped out a natural five-season arc for the series that also focuses on the gender-conflicted protag's teenage sons. FX prexy-general manager John Landgraf bought the project in the room after Murphy pitched it.

"The first season deals with the revelation of his secret," Murphy said. "In the second season, he begins dressing like a woman. The third covers the surgery, and his inherent doubts about going through with it, and by the fourth season, he's living as a woman and attempting to find love."

Murphy said "4 oz." refers to the average weight of a penis, remarkably light given the amount of havoc it creates for men.

He and his producing partners will enlist a studio and search for an actor to play the daring role.

Murphy involved Plan B's Pitt and Gardner because of the relationship developed as they produced "Running With Scissors," the drama he adapted from the Augusten Burroughs memoir, on which he makes his feature directing debut.

Pitt and Gardner are also the producers of "Dirty Tricks," a drama Murphy wrote and will direct about eccentric Watergate scandal figure Martha Mitchell, who'll be played by Meryl Streep. Murphy plans to direct that film next year for Paramount Vantage.

Murphy is repped by CAA.

Brad Pitt continues his own castration by now choosing to exec-produce a TV series about a transexual who decides he'd rather switch than fight.

The lascivious title of the show is "4 oz."

He's lost his mind.

It's actually difficult to know whom to ping to this. I hope I'm not offending anyone (more than the article itself offends all of us.)

I think it's important to know what the enemy is doing and what our kids might end up watching on TV at someone else's home.

This is amazing. I've thought for sometime now that their are just too, too many homos in the sports reporting business. Too much touchy-feely topics interspersed amongst tire advertisements.

<<<<< poof >>>>>>

Point is, they DON'T disappear.

"Running With Scissors," . . . "Dirty Tricks,"

These titles could work as well.

My husband was saying the same thing last night. They are everywhere on TV for a reason.

And it wasn't always this way. But younger kids will never know that. They'll grow up thinking television has always been a viable platform to portray all kinds of errors.

There's so much to work with here.

Or maybe not.

Wasn't there some sportscaster in New York who got caught cross-dressing with his mistress or a prostitute a few years back? What was his name, Marv Albert?

Then there was the cross-dressing Rodman in basketball.

I guess the time for real men to wear ballerina tutus is at hand. Hopefully, there won't be film at 11. But I'm not optimistic.

My husband was saying the same thing last night. They are everywhere on TV for a reason.

Are you old enough to recall Milton Berle and other Fifties comedians dressing in drag?

It's only the idea that it is expressive of a personal identity or sexy that is new here. Celebs in dresses isn't new. And if some RINOs here at FR have their way, we'll have the crossdressing Giuliani as president in '09. And not all those crossdressing incidents he was in seem intended for humor. He looks like he was really into it.

BTW, I did watch Ed Wood this weekend. Yet another crossdresser, albeit a non-sexual one. Had a thing for angora sweaters and women's undergarments.

I appreciate the ping, Dr. E.

FX and "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy have made a deal for a new drama called "4 oz." that will follow the metamorphosis of a married sportswriter who is a transsexual.

These people have raped their own sensibilites to such a degree that the only thing left for them to make cool is incest. And to top it all off, they're huge bores. They can't write. What a degradation when you think of some of the letters that those ordinary, salt of the earth, Civil war folks wrote to each other. I read somewhere that the Civil war period boasted a literacy rate of 98%. That's one heck of an accomplishment, if you ask me.

Murphy will exec produce with Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner as Pitt makes his first series foray.

Exec produce? Exec produce? I could just hurl!

I liked the movie, "Ed Wood." Johnny Depp is always interesting to watch.

I remember hearing Dave Chapelle bemoan the fact that Hollywood insists on dressing up its black actors in women's clothes, ostensibly for a laugh.

At too high a price these days.

"Hurl" is right. "Exec produce" means it was Pitt's idea. His production company found the idea, nurtured it and sold it to FX. He owns the show, assuming it ever sees the light of day.

You're exactly correct; they have dulled their senses to such a violent extent that extreme titillation is all that's left.

Did you watch that new show, "Studio 60" or something by Aaron Sorkin? It was 60 minutes of trashing Christians and deadening, boring blather among effete low-lifes and pseudo-intellectuals who apparently know NOTHING about life or people or television.
