Excellence is still excellence.

I've heard it said that Beta was technically superior to VHS...but the marketplace spoke. The result was that during its "useful" lifespan, the number of movie titles released on Beta was a minuscule fraction of what was released on VHS.

IMO,today's "universality" of Windows PC's trumps any technical superiority that Mac might have.

It was... Beta provided 290-325 lines of resolution compared to VHS 240 - 250. Sound was imbedded in the video signal as an FM Stereo signal compared to VHS side track. Color handling was far better in the Beta format.

The Mac is actually the most "universal" of personal computers... it can run FAR MORE software than can a standard PC Windows box. Macs run OS X, UNIX, LINUX, and Windows... including Vista... all natively.

In addition, a comparitively configured Mac is LESS EXPENSIVE than a PC with the similar specs.
