Actually, Aniston has a point. Hollywood makes movies aimed at males, figuring the females will go along to the movie anyway. Thus lots of blow-up-bang movies and ones with lots of special effects get greenlighted, but movies that will draw steadily, such as "The Devil Wears Prada" and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," have a harder time getting started. There's a big role for a movie company that will make films which appeal more to older women. Come to think of it, films with a plot and appealing actors and actresses wouldn't hurt, either.

I have worked 8 years at our local movie theater, and thus see what sells and what doesn't. We get more films that will bring the women in and less gangsta crap, I'd be happier.

Because groups of women don't go out to the movies when they can just sit at home and rent that or their favorite TV show on DVD during their slumber parties or male-bashing get-togethers?

That's what the Man-Bashing...err I mean, Lifetime Channel is for.

No, it's not. That might be a flip answer, but cable is not the movies. Lifetime picked up the gap when Hollywood went to their current business model, but it's not the same when you have commercials every 10 minutes.

"Jennifer insists comedies are never written with a female lead character "

when the female has talent they most certainly are. Remember Lucy? I'm not a real redhead fan, but "long, long trailer" is a classic hoot!

HOLY MOLEY!

Someone else FINALLY thinks Ellen Barkin is smokin' hot!

I thought I was the only one.

(no, seriously, there is no sarcasm on this comment!)

Remember the movie with Laurence Fishburn, she was great in that!

She's also smokin' rich since she split from Ron Perelman.

You know why they don't write comedic lead roles for women? Same reason they don't do 'funny' ads directed at women.

Compare your typical beer ad with one for laundry detergent. 'Nuff said.

I'm a girl and I always thought Ellen Barkin was very pretty and had sex appeal (for men).

However, Jennifer insists comedies are never written with a female lead character

So, she's never watched a comedy starring Goldie Hawn or Whoopi Goldberg?
