Detroit's pitching staff is pretty solid at pitching and pretty terrible at everything else.
If the Tigers lose this series, as seems likely, they can blame it on 4 pitchers' fielding errors.

When's the last time a team came back from a 3 - 1 deficit to win the Series? I know the '79 Pirates did it (against the Orioles), but I'd be surprised if it hasn't happened (at least once) since then.

Full disclosure: I am a die-hard Mets fan.
I am rooting for the Cards because when the Cards beat the Mets the Yankees fans were dancing in the streets like the lowlifes they all are.
I would love to see the Cards pound the Detroit team that sent the Yankees packing.
My preferred postseason retrospective is that the Yankees lost the first round to the World Series losers and the Mets lost the pennant to the World Series winners, proving that the Mets are the superior NY franchise.

Some weak batting too, an error can easily be overcome by one swing of the bat. The Tigers have left WAY too many runners on base, sometimes loaded.

And the Tigers did win in '68 after being down 3-1 versus the Cardinals.

You'd think that someone who gets paid for throwing a baseball extremely accurately could throw a simple lob to first base, or third base, but apparently not.
The brilliance of Kenny Roger's performance in game two wasn't just his incredible control, but he also made several very crucial fielding plays.
The Tigs are toast, but hopefully they can at least bring it home for one game.

Good point. The fabled Ordonez has been extremely unproductive at the plate.

If the Tigers lose this series, as seems likely, they can blame it on 4 pitchers' fielding errors. And a passball that should have been blocked, and a slippery outfield. It was not a pretty game on the Detroit side.

Well said. Sean Casey is one of the taller 1st basemen in the league and he jumped, with his catching arm fully extended, and the ball still sailed over his head.
It wasn't simply a poor throw - it was like he was just throwing the ball away.

The Tigers have left WAY too many runners on base, sometimes loaded. That is something that is very hard to overcome in a short series of games like The Big Dance.
And it is why, sadly, the Tigers will lose the Series this year.

And the Tigers did win in '68 after being down 3-1 versus the Cardinals. The Tigers have the pitching to pull it off, but the Cardinals have an ace of their own. The odds are against Detroit, but the odds are not astronomical.

Oops. I forgot. And he's a head shorter than Casey.

And it is why, sadly, the Tigers will lose the Series this year. I am not giving up hope. If someone said at the beginning of the year, all the Tigers have to do is win three games in a row to win the World Series, I would say no way! The Tigers are good enough to do it. They need to cut down on mistakes, get their bats going, and keep up the pitching.
To: Always Right
Either way, it sould be some exciting baseball coming up with all the marbles on the line each time. (Yes, the Tigers will win Game 5.)

Maybe Detroit will wake up their bats tonight. Oh well, I'm a fair weather fan anyway...

Wasted opportunity by the Cards. 30+ pitches and bases loaded and no run. Give Verlander credit.

Eckstein again! What is Jim Leyland thinking... with this Verlander rookie? I've never seen a pitcher so nervous during a World Series game...

Well, I had to make a choice. This one started in the morning and seemed to be about other things than Game 5. I guess we should have had a meeting, decided ahead of time who would do the LIVE THREAD.
Question: Will the Tigers fight back? Will their claws finally come out?
