George Allen in 2008?
FreeRepublic ^ | November 7, 2006 | NapkinUser

Does (almost certainly) losing the Virginia senate election give George Allen more time to campaign for 2008, like Romney and Frist both stepping down does?

I have very mixed thoughts on that. On the one hand control of the Senate would be amazingly important. On the other if there aren't real grounds for expecting us to make up all the votes and real issues would we be much better than SoreLoserman by challenging?

Nope...part of getting ready to win next time is showing them how we lose with dignity.

We have to contrast ourselves to these clowns and the first step is to be dignified. Thats a big contrast.

I'm bringing you a VERY special message from Jim Robinson:

Le ZOTTE: My very IMPORTANT opinion on tonight's debate. VERY IMPORTANT BREAKING NEWS VANITY! MAYO

Edited on 09/30/2004 11:57:40 PM EDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

NO ONE ELSE THOUGHT OF THIS SO IT DESERVES A THREAD OF ITS OWN!

I think each and every poster on FR should post a new thread stating his opinion on the debate. This way, instead of having only a few threads with hundreds of posts each (ie, discussion threads), we will have hundreds of threads, each with two comments. One the important opinion, and two, the complaint about vanity posts.

Wow.

He can't win a Senate seat in his own frigging state and he is on top of your Presidential candidates list?

Might as well put Allen/Foley, who knows Foley may carry North East.

Allen ran an awful campaign. He stepped in it everywhere he turned and this one should have been in the bag and kept the Republicans at 50-50 with Cheney. No, his campaign performance cost the Republicans dear.

Allen for dogcatcher!

So does this same thinking apply to Santorum? He still seems quite viable to me on a national ticket.

I think Allen will be forced out of running for the presidency when Tancredo decides to run and win.

If a republican can not cary Virginia he has no right to even think of going for the nomination. Can you say gore in cowboy boots?

Gingrich is every bit as viable as a Presidential/Vice-Presidential candidate as Katherine Harris was as a Florida Senatorial candidate.

Agreed. One big winner for the Republican nomination tonight is John McCain, who campaigned tirelessly and despite his insanity on issues like immigration and campaign finance reforem is one of the few who get it on the war on terror. The other is Mitt Romney, who gets it on the war on terror and lacks the baggage and craving for media approval of John McCain. Rudy Guilani can be thrown in as an honorable mention, but he is simply too liberal on social issues to be acceptable to the Republican base.

Allen is gone. Gingrich is yesterday's news. Liberal state governors like Erlich and Pawlenty might have done okay had they not run for re-election in an anti-R year.

But the only high profile candidates left are McCain, Romney and Guilani. Romney is, by far, the best of the lot.

More like Gingrich-Romney.

Yeah, I like that. Or, Newt/JD Hayworth?

Umm, no, it means he's quite possibly the biggest yutz we've strongly considered for a Presidential run, and that he has absolutely no chance whatsoever.

I could see something like that happening for somebody like Santorum, who got caught up in circumstances largely beyond his control, but Allen isn't like that. He wrote his own death warrent and signed it.
