I'm Genuinely Confused...Why does George Allen still think he can win?

I thought he would wait for the absentee ballots.

I don't think it's Republican to ask for a recount just because you lost.

First take a look at the website. We don't even have a public full accounting yet.
So it's all premature to ask the guy to bow out. Actually, the officials need to do their job and get a full first count and then see what's what.

VA has a recount if there is less than 1% difference. Based on the existing numbers the differential is 0.3% with 5% of the vote not even showing.

I'm baffled how this all slipped away in the last seconds after Allen led all night.
It's acceptable if it passes the normal scrutiny but we're not even there yet.

Amazing how the media is already saying Allen needs to bow out for the good of the country.

Now do you think they would do that if the balance of the Senate was on hand and a Dim was involved? Okay, don't answer that question.

Let the system finish the job and then Allen can decide what's what. It's not like anything is being held up, unlike Gore holding off a Presidential transition team.

What gives indeed. I have no idea why a public website on the vote count is bouncing all over the map on the percentage of the vote.

I'm not going to read into it other than normal incompetence by government officials.

I really wish Montana had come through as this is just unhealthy all around.
Really disappointed to not see VA come in last night. Webb may be a good man but I found those comments in his novels disturbing.

Never thougt Allen was Presidential material but he has a good record of service in VA.

We'll just have to wait and see now. I'm not optimistic based on the existing tally. But if they find some substantial errors then I'll withhold judgement.

I'm as Republican as you but I believe Allen was losing the last 10-15% of the tallied vote.

Amazing how the media is already saying Allen needs to bow out for the good of the country.

Oh come on, we're talking about the media.

Actually I'm more libertarian and a registered independent but I vote for the good of the country.

And now is not the time for vanity with the security of the nation at hand.
Somehow that gets lost very easily here in the northeast.

I'm not doubting Allen last a good deal of the vote tally at the end. I'm just saying that there is a reasonableness factor to look at the result within the margin of error. My expectation is that there isn't going to be any big changes.

And I can't believe the Senate has come to this. But of course I respect our nation and it's institutions as a democracy. Let Virginia sort out what they need to in order to certify the vote.

[Allen is clearly not a very bright person ]

You're probably right, his only claim to fame was being a United States Senator, if he was really intelligent, he would be sitting in front of a computer and anonymously posting his opinions.

You are the first poster I've seen who inserted a picture of himself.

I don't understand why people, like you, feel it's necesary to rip to shreds a decent man who just didn't measure up to your high and mighty ideals.

his history as a United States Senator didn't strike me as particularly impressive
and apparantly about 7200 more virginia voters felt that way too, enough to vote for someone who has no political history

that strikes me as a pretty F-d up situation of Allen's own doing

sitting in front of the computer and anonymously posting opinions is pretty much what the internet is about

and u might be doing the same thing too, pal

( didn't measure up to your high and mighty ideals )

well, the guy seems to have been coasting on his last name for his whole life!

i'm sure he's a decent fool, but, at the end of the day, he's still a fool who looked down the barrel of a gun and was suprised when he blew his head off

that sounds like the definition of a fool to me

once again, if that jackass had been capable of handling things like an experienced politician with 20 years of office behind him

why couldn't he turn that 'are u jewish question?' into a heart-wrenching story of coming to terms with the past, or how he was dealing with the mystery of his own family history.........F--- anything other than acting like a pompous jackass who denies it, then admits it the following day (not even in person, in a press release)

I think most people have probably seen better run campaigns for high school class president

and that, in essence, sums up why george allen is not the brightest man on the earth

although if u need this intelligent mans opinion, RetSignman, u should be happy that he will have a lot more free time to answer any questions that might arise in your life
