Now that the election is over and this can't be considered just an election ploy :
Rumors are said to have been circulating in Durham to the effect that Nifong might consider (legally) going after a couple of bloggers; that if he deals with a couple of them the rest will be intimidated and fade away.
This is just a heads up; so that if anything untoward happens, everyone will know about it in advance and be able to make the connection. The rumors are well-sourced.
It shields their sexual history right?

Someone linked a photo that was hosted on the DHS website (a photo of Bush and Rumsfeld). For some reason, the link was a secure link.
The certificate pop-up came up because the link was to
www.something-something.dhs.gov while the certificate was for
something-something.dhs.gov (The browser noticed the lack of "www" and popped up a dialog.
Nothing sinister here.

Justice delayed is justice denied. It did not prevail. An ignorant, racist jury saw to that.
That would be great! Perhaps malicious prosecution, which would make a good case given how the case was central to Nifong's election campaign.
Black Durhamites are on record stating that it doesn't matter if the guys are guilty because it's about getting even with whites. That is a fact, not a stereotype, and THAT is racist!
Rape shield laws protect the identity of the accuser. I'm wrong about this? Or do you mean, that the average Joe cannot be prosecuted for revealing the accuser's name?
I thought the rape shield laws protected both the identity of the accuser AND their past sexual history. Guess I'm wrong.

I think the idea with Nifong may be [i]also[/i] that he might go after a couple of local bloggers, so that if they have anything at all amiss, like traffic tickets, they'll get the Elmostafa treatment.

Whoa, there! There is NO evidence, including basic circumstantial evidence. There is NO DNA evidence. The DA has not even talked to the accuser. What planet have you been on?

Who'd represent Nifong and pay the legal fees?
Durham taxpayers are going to have their hands full with lawsuits coming from the players.
Oh, then there's that pesky sexual harrassment suit recently filed by a former ADA against a "co-worker."
