I think this is a good idea for general purpose computers since this will allow the drastic reduction in the size of the motherboard itself, which means lower power consumption. The builders of small breadbox-sized computers (e.g., Shuttle's XPC) will definitely like this idea becuase it will improve cooling inside the computer box.

However, I am putting together an Intel Quad core CPU machine with the new Nvidia 8800GTX, X-Fi, and a PhysX physics coprocessor.
